First off, let me say that this movie is not perfect. There are many flaws, but I want you to know that I enjoyed it. It was just fun. I was watching it and I thought that it was just a dumb, fun, Greek mythology movie. Let me just go farther into this movie.
The movie starts off with a fisherman finding a coffin in the water. He opens it and finds a dead woman with a crying baby. He takes care of the baby and it grows into Perseus (a pretty good Sam Worthington). One day, Perseus is with his family on their boat when they see soldiers taking down the statue of Zeus. Hades comes in rage and kills everyone, including Perseus' family. The rest of the film goes on with Perseus leading a mission to stop Hades from releasing the Kraken on the city of Argos.
The plot, as you can see, is quite simple. So you don't have to worry about a complex plot. The actors are pretty good, with the best probably coming from Ralph Fiennes as Hades. He definatley has the most fun and channels Voldemort in his performance. Liam Neeson is great as Zeus and the rest of the cast is pretty good, as well. Sammy does a decent job, but you do play the "Which Accent is Sam Trying Now" game at some points in the movie. If you get past that, you see that he does a good job.
Louis Leterrier's best feature is directing action. It is really impressive at certain points. But, in order to direct the Avengers, he needs to be better at other things. So, I nominate J.J Abrams as the best choice to direct Avengers now.
Overall, I enjoyed the movie very much. It made me want to play with swords after it, so I had fun. I give this film 4 out of 5 stars. Oh, and on a completely different note, when I was waiting to watch the movie, I picked up Green Lantern: Secret Origins and I think that it would make an awesome movie!
