Bonaventura Rebuffs Sommers Firing Rumor, G.I. JOE Testing Well

Producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura Insists G.I.JOE On Track, Sommers Still On Board

In this interview with Bonaventura, Latino Review gets the scoop on the alleged Sommers/G.I.JOE fiasco.

"Lorenzo: It's very unfair to Steve, it's completely untrue he was never asked to leave or been fired or any of that. That’s ridiculous. The movie tested very well.

LR: I hear it tested as good as the first Transformers.

Lorenzo: Well listen, we tested very well and I don’t compare the movies because they are different movies, but you know I think its really destructive for a director…It hurts a guy's career when people go around talking about that he was fired or he didn’t do a good job and truth is he did a really good job. People are going to enjoy the movie and the test audiences enjoyed the movie.

He did a very good job the movie tested well and it couldn’t be more false that the studio in anyway did anything negatively to Steve.

LR: So what really happened in the editing room?

Lorenzo: Nothing that doesn’t happen on every other movie, which is that you constantly work and work and work and you make it better and better. We had a delay on visual effects so we waited a long time to finish the movie but that’s the only thing. I don’t really know why that would be interpreting it negatively but I guess it was.

LR: In regards to the testing the film has had so far:

Lorenzo: Everybody was happy, the studio was happy, the filmmakers were happy, the audience was happy with the movie. We had three test screenings, three different times and tested it and each time it just got better and better. We started off in a good place and we ended up in even in a better place, which is what you hope on a film from testing it."

Yeeah I didn't think this rumor was true. Sure a lot of fanboys hate the changes but it looked like a [frick]ing awesome movie. Even if it did suck like 10 times worse when it was tested it would still be an ok movie. They wouldn't go crazy and start editing the crap out of it and fire Sommers. They'd release it. Like DBE.

I agree with Keven. I think he's just covering tos ave face. I mean, of course he's gonig to deny it. What else would he say? But if people can verify that Stuard Baird is indeed in the editing room, it seems pretty clear the first rumor was true.
I mean, are we really supposed to believe this movie tested well with test audiences? We've seen the trailers, and we already know it's a terrible movie!

Maybe there's some truth to this, and the previous rumor was somewhat overblown, but I don't think it's total paradise on Sommer's side either.

Wasn't this the same producer the other story said got tossed as well? I don't hear the studio coming out and saying anything. I think it's a total cover-up, this guy is a doosh, Somers is a hack, and this movie will more than likely make T4 look like a box office smash. If they break $75 mil total US box-office, I will be stunned.

I would love to see this film flop and go straight to DVD and to see Lorenzo and Sommers out on their asses producing and directing infomercials for being a couple of Douche bag sons of bitches.

No wonder we see these actors not returning to Hollywood most of what comes out of Hollywood is Dog shit now a days.

Laurence Fishbourne
Ernie Hudson
Martin Sheen
Rob Lowe

Lithgow and Sinise get a pass. Maybe Larry too.

But your right on the money with every last bit of the rest. A round of mouth raping for Lorenzo and Sommers.

Yeah, there was nasty plop slung about in that other article. The trailers look pretty rad to me and I have no attachment to GI Joe what so ever. Looks like a fun action romp to me.

@Hellmont

Umm the reason Peter Boyle hasn't returned to Hollywood lately is because HE's BEEN F*CKING DEAD FOR TWO AND A HALF YEARS LOL.

This is news to me that Peter Boyle passed away. I hardly watch TV unless I feel that there is a hurricane coming my way then I turn on the TV but other than that I really dont watch TV , but none the less he was working on a TV sitcom and that is my point you assholes or did you not read my post?

@Hellmont

And we were pointing out that the reason Peter Boyle isn't returning to Hollywood movies is not because he's doing a sitcom, but because he's dead lol. Asshole:) LMAO
