Green Lantern was a massive disappointment both critically and commercially and it very nearly ruined Ryan Reynolds' career (it certainly brought an end to studios looking at him as a box office draw anyway). Now, the Deadpool 2 star has confirmed that he's avoided watching the final cut of Martin Campbell's DC Comics adaptation for the past seven years...then again, can you really blame him?
"Look, I’ve never seen the full final version of Green Lantern," Reynolds admitted in a chat with EW. "I saw a very late stage rough cut of the film." Surprisingly, the actor doesn't actually have a definitive reason for not watching. Instead, he had a more diplomatic answer. "Now, that isn't to say that I didn't want to see it because I didn’t like it. I have movies that have been received pretty well that I haven't seen, and then I have movies that I have seen 100 times that people don’t like but I just like."
As for why that Green Lantern joke was included in Deadpool, he added: "The Green Lantern [joke in Deadpool] to me is just sort of, I don't know, kind of fun. It's me just taking the piss out of me, but it's more Wade [Deadpool’s real name] though." What did you think of Green Lantern? Were you disappointed by the movie or is it not as bad as people say?
