This from UGO.com:

"Confirmed:
Ryan Reynolds will be playing Green Lantern/Hal Jordan.

Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) is set to direct. (Empire)

Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, and Marc Guggenheim are scripting the film, with Guggenheim handling the latest drafts. (Sci-Fi Wire)

The Hal Jordan origin story will encompass ideas and details from multiple fan favorite Green Lantern story arcs. (MTV) (Comingsoon.net)

The film will introduce a new Green Lantern to the Corps that has never been in the comics. (MTV)

The film will be released on June 17, 2011.

Martin Campbell explains that Hal's ring can transform into a fist, or a fighter jet, and that he's a superhero not bound to Earth, suggesting we may see him travel through space. (Coventry Telegraph)

Cinematographer Dion Beebe (Memoirs of a Geisha, Collateral, Equilibrium), costume designer Ngila Dickson (Lord of the Rings Trilogy), and art director Francios Audouy (Avatar, I Am Legend, Watchmen) have been brought on board to the film. (Superhero Hype)

Unconfirmed:
Clark Kent, could have a cameo and Kilowog is expected to be in the film, as well as others, but Guggenheim says that nothing is final till it is filmed. (MTV)

Sinestro is expected to appear in the film, but there is no confirmation.

The lead villain may be Legion, based on the 90s Green Lantern origin retelling, "Emerald Dawn".

Jackie Earle Haley could pop up as the Green Lantern Sinestro (AICN)"

I could see Jackie Earle Haley as Sinestro, that would rock. This movie has to do for DC what Iron Man did for Marvel. I believe it will deliver and more. This could be (hopefully) the first chapter in leading up to a 'Justice League' full length, live action, superhero extravaganza for the big screen!!!

@Ozymandias. i think i agree with you. it's hard for me to picture RR as GL. just because he's usually so laid back. but like you that will not stop me from thinking this movie is going to be totally badass

(i also don't think RR is right for deadpool. he would just be RR under a mask. and while that could work my casting choice would be sean willaim scott)

Man Hugo Weaving would rock as Sinestro. Still would prefer Chris Pine, Bradley Cooper or Nathan Fillion as Hal Jordan but looks like we're stuck with Reynolds.
OdinsBeard
OdinsBeard - 12/30/2009, 3:58 PM
yes he would be way better as the flash! but i do understand that an actor of ryan reynolds current caliber would need a more polarizing hero to play. in that respect i think hal and RR are great for each other and just because we can't picture it doesn't mean it wont work! im of the opinion that it will but, had the casting been up to me, i don't think i would've thought of RR that is all

Ozy: haha i like your pic, that guy will get a super-hero movie one of these days...

He must be blowin' Cameron really good!!!

BruceWayneNewton - 12/30/2009, 3:59 PM
@Ozy- Ryan Reynolds isn't the guy I wanted to see as GL either but your guy couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. He has the personality of a dead moth.
NERO
NERO - 12/30/2009, 4:01 PM
lol, thank you DDD. At least I know I'm not the only one that thinks Worthington is overhyped, overexposed, and over rated. I just am not impressed with the guy yet. Didn't like him in T4, or Avatar, maybe he can change my mind with Titans, but we'll have to see.

Hal Jordan is a rough and tumble ex fighter pilot!
Ryan is so absolutely unfitting for Hal Jordan
it aint funny!

The Flash shoulda been made first with RR! But I
will still go and see the GL movie! WARNERS is
just as stupid as FOX!
DDD
DDD - 12/30/2009, 4:08 PM
You're very welcome, Nerosday@! lol

Don't take it to heart too much Ozy!
I just hate Worthington not you! You
got a right to like Sam I am but I
just despise him 'cause he's taking parts
that could be filled by MUCH better actors!
NERO
NERO - 12/30/2009, 4:19 PM
Nobody's mad Ozy, I think we're all just sick of hearing the guy's name at this point and being TOLD he's going to be the next big thing... So far from what I can see around the boards all that is doing is causing a backlash against the guy.

As for RR, is he the best pick for Hal? No. But I do have faith in the guy because he is a geek himself, albeit a very successful geek with a great body and a wife so hot the very thought of her causes my pants to fit funny, but he seems to genuinely want to please the fans, and I think he felt bad about Deadpool, and I think he wants to give us Hal as Hal really is... Can he play it straight? I really think he can; if he chooses. I think he may surprise us, so I'm not writing him off yet.

Does it mean Reynolds can’t play Hal charming or funny? Of course not. I think a lot of us only remember the very dour and serious Hal, that came as the character got older in the comics, but the early Hal was very fun because he had no fear for himself, he was a hard charging, womanizing, Chuck Yeager of a guy. Remember he is the Anti-Batman; Hope/Will – No Fear. Fear does not compute for Hal Jordan, but he will kick your ass three ways from Sunday if he’s got to. My point being, Hal as Hal fits Reynolds very well. Hal in his GL Cop mode; Reynolds is going to need to pull it back a good bit… but if you get a chance to see Hal’s eyes in the middle of a shit storm you’ve got to see that little twinkle there that shows he is serious as a heart attack outwardly but inside he is having the time of his life.

If Reynolds can deliver that... I'm sold.

Reynolds is now too old for the Wally West Flash. They must flesh out Barry Allen first. Anybody being casted as Captain America (save Worthington and his dog Spot) could be casted as Allen. They look very much alike.

Well said, Nero about Hal.

Green Lantern is going to own major green ass.

Jason Isaacs embodies Sinestro like no other actor out there, and Weaving is Brainiac.

Reynolds is going to be a kick-ass Hal. Anyone who thinks he's only the funny comedic guy needs to check out a lot more of his movies. He has natural charisma and is totally like-able in almost everything.

Amityville, Smokin' Aces, the Nines, etc. The guy is a great actor. He doesn't always do comedic goofball stuff, he's a great dramatic and serious actor. He has shown that he is capable of being cocky, charming, and funny, yet also serious and very heroic. Hal is a cocky fighter pilot and flirts around with Carol being sarcastic and such, but can be deadly serious and dramatic.

Was/Is he the ideal actor for Hal? Not really, but does he still fit the character? Absolutely.

The guy seems legitimately excited and passionate for this role, a hell of a lot more than most stars today.

I believe in Ryan Reynolds.

And speaking of Green Lantern, here's my Green Lantern/Justice League Fan-Cast:

It's funny how they say there will be a never before seen in comics Green Lantern. That's pretty easy to do when there are 7200+ GL's zippin' around the universe. They could make up just about anything and call it a GL. I think they could have a great ensemble cast like Star Trek to give the movie that great chemistry between the Corp.

TheMyth - 12/30/2009, 4:53 PM
I been watching Reynolds since his debut on 'Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place' and I gotta say I've never seen him in anything since in which he failed to entertain. I have faith in him for GL, one of the only DC characters I enjoy. This is a chance for Reynolds to really become a character, something not his own, and demonstrate he can be a character, and not just Ryan Reynolds playing a character.
DDD
DDD - 12/30/2009, 5:06 PM
I have faith in Ryan too! He has developed into
one of America's finer actors. I know he will
pull off the roll of Hal but I would rather have
had him in a Flash movie! GL is usually portrayed
more tough-looking, like David Boreanaz, but I'm
sure RR will shine in the GL part!

Thanks for combining all that info! How awesome would it be to have a Clark Kent scene thrown in there? Can't wait to see how they design the suit.

Jackie Earle Haley as Sinestro That Would Rock
Feltz
Feltz - 12/30/2009, 9:11 PM
Not much of a Green Lantern fan but I do hope this does well and it's not another Super-crap-man movie. I'm really looking forward to DC and Marvel trading blows caged-match style year after year with stunning box office smash Comic Book Movies! Successful CBMs will not only increase the sales of comics but ensure that the genre will not fade if one or two flop.
AGame67
AGame67 - 12/30/2009, 10:50 PM
Jack earl Haley would suck as Sinestro. He's not big enough or evil looking enough to be Sinestro.

Now Jason Isaacs is the man for the part.

Clark would be cool to see. But they cant just throw in some random Superman looking guy, If he has a cameo it has to be a guy thats going to play Superman in a movie. If not then its just giving us false hope.

@Ozymadias-Worthington could not be Green Lantern. he has been in two big movies and now everyone thinks he can do everything. He would not make a good Hal Jordan because he doesn't look the part or act the part.
