Unknown Actor Shawn Roberts Likely To Land Lead Role In Green Lantern

This guy certainly looks the part, in fact I would argue that he may be a clone of Hal Jordan. Shawn Roberts is a spitting image of fan favorite Green Lantern. Shawn has just completed working with Campbell on "Edge of Darkness."
The guy is 25 and ripped which gives Campbell the age bracket he was looking to cast in.

It has been confirmed that Shawn has had several casting calls and two or three meetings with director Campbell regarding the Green Lantern role. From what I hear, Campbell loves the guy.

So it sounds like Mr. Roberts has the acting chops to turn in a successful performance and he definitely looks just like Hal Jordan. In my opinion it really boils down to Brian Austin Green and Shawn Roberts. Bradley Cooper is too old for the part and he looks nothing like Hal Jordan, in fact Bradley Cooper looks more like Hawk Man then GL.

I think Martin will make the right choice, we the fans will get a good, quality filled Green Lantern movie.

I hope this movie doesn't turn into a cheese-fest. With all of the possibilities of the powers the ring offers, there are all-too-many chances for them to F this movie up. Too much CGI and it's going to be the Special Edition Star Wars all over again.

Yea he looks like the guy thats great ,but can he act? Green Lantern is another one of those characters that has a huge following and the character has some depth. Being able to act is VERY important ALONG WITH HAVING THE LOOK I just hope they dont change much about GL.

He looks like David Keith screwed with Brian Austin Green's mother without anyone knowing... Yeah he looks the part. Still, i say Chris Pine for Hal and Sam Witwer for Sinestro!!!

Always amazes me on how wrong all the fanboys usually are....

I think I've been hearing Nathan Fillion or David Boreanaz in this role for around 3 years now on the net.

I think Shawn Roberts will fit the program if he can act as well. I also hope they get the story line right and also have a great supporting cast. I hate to see another DC movie fall flat on its' face them butt. Hmmm! Can you say Superman Returns! Hmmm

Notice how i left out Brian Austin Green's panzy ass??? But of all of them, i'm sold on Chris Pine for it... until some other pic blows me away, my next sketch will surely be Pine as GL. Guys theres some roles you take as a actor that are a kiss of death! Hence PINE would've been good but everyone and his dog will laugh it out the cinema! Capt KIRK with a ring thats makes green things!!! Bit like the role with SUPERMAN too!

As for ANGEL get out lol! An if you use WITWER people will think it has something to do with SMALLVILLE an yes they will, before you shout, he don't look the part anyway!!! : D

If memory serves me correct Shawn Roberts is the kid that Rogue nearly kills when she kisses him in the first X-men movie. I could be wrong but I think it is.

An unknown is fine if they can act. To me, it would be better to have an unknown and then maybe they will put the money into the special effects rather than worry about a superstar actor and do cheap effects. Also, you may not have an actor that will cry that he doesn't want to wear the mask because people won't see his face.

Well, at least we'll know who Thor is going to be within the next two months (groan), and I hope to Odin it's not that Hiddleston guy!

Shaman: What do you think about a bigger name like Mcconaughey or Pitt for Cap? Shouldn't we get a bigger name for a role like that?

@LEE777 LOL!I almost saw it too but by divine intervention plans feel through. I know that most do not think that he could(or would) do it but the Oceans movies show that he can work in a team movie (and work well with a stellar cast) and Troy showed us he can pull off working with a shield. I know not many will agree with me but there are worse choices out there.

Actually, i've never been against PITT for CAP. I just thought he wouldn't do it because he'll be the next He-Man. But hey, if i'm okay with Kirk being GL, then i'd agree to He-man being CAP!!! After all, Lucius Malfoy was a brilliant Captain Hook :))

so long its not Brian Austin Green... I remember him from 90210 and Freddie Prince show Freddy... not the image you want to go with when thinking of the Green Lantern. I know he was in the show for Terminator w/LEna but it was too late... couldnt take him serious.

Check out Roberts' page on IMDb, the very first pick in his gallery he's in shades and a leather bomber jacket. That's a very "Hal" look. I could see it. Has to be able to act though

LEEE777- Actually i'm not kidding and we haven't heard anything yet about him not doing it. I read the script review on "latino review" and it kicks ass and it said Pitt actually signed for the role. Brad Pitt is the next He-Man.

And Roberts can have the look all he wants but i didn't like his voice nor his manerisms in X-men even given the small part he had. And we can try to fool ourselves all we want but the fact is that Hal's personnality matches to a "T" Captain Kirk's. So yes, Chris Pine is the best pic for GL yet.
