Speaking with ScreenCrush, Djimon Hounsou talked more vaguely about his role as Korath the Pursuer in Guardians of the Galaxy. On filming so far, the two-time Oscar-nominated actor says, "It’s been great. I mean I got to go back and finish, but it’s been great. Most of my stuff [has been shot], yes. I shot and I still have one more week left, one more big scene to do." On the action in the Marvel adaptation, Hounsou says, Well, there is but not a lot – I’m doing a quite a bit of action but it’s not that much compared to some other films that I’ve done with kicking and boxing. But this is more contained, yeah, it’s quite fun." Whether director James Gunn's "idiosyncratic" humor shows itself in his role, the actor explains, "Well, yeah. I’m not really concentrating or thinking about the comedy aspect. I’m just thinking about the variety of flavorful work, if you will. And again, the Marvel world always is interesting for anybody, really. And for your son to see you almost like a superhero, I mean I’m not playing a superhero but like, you know, to see you in that sort of like world is quite fun. It’s fun for us as grownups as well to be playing tough boys. At the end of the day it’s all about cowboys & Indians."

Before joining the cast on stage during Marvel Studios' panel at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year, Djimon Hounsou's involvement with Guardians of the Galaxy was completely unheard of. In a separate interview, The Source asked the actor how the role of Korath came about. "That’s a good question," he said. "I was called in and when I met them and talked about various characters and the director James Gunn is somebody I really like and wanted to work with and so this was a great opportunity to be part of something that I can remember, something that can be instrumental for my son." Anyhow, a reporter for Canoe, who "lamented Marvel's decision" to green-light Guardians, notes that his recent visit to the set has persuaded his change of heart. "Aside from what I saw who I talked to while there -- which has gone a long way towards convincing me Marvel know precisely what they're doing - the thing that really turned me around on Guardians of the Galaxy was (gasp!) the comics themselves," the reporter says. It gotta feel great inside to have kids (those that are into this type of stuff) and to do roles like these.

With the way we carry on about certain actors, just think how much greater it feels to their kids

Too bad Marvel didn't save him to play Black Panther's father.

The A list black characters of the Marvel Universe are

Black Panther
Luke Cage
Storm

Two of those could helm their own movies but Marvel is wasting them.

I can understand The Guardians being funny, because they're just a group of wise-cracking heroes. The Avengers on the other hand...

So newmutants what you're trying to say that it doesn't matter how much a film makes, it will still be an epic fail because the writing/creative/acting side is a dodgy, however that's only IN YOUR OWN OPINION because the last time I checked, Iron Man 3 had raving reviews from critics and General Audience alike. But your problem was the comedy that was well placed and well thought out, because as the Iron Man series illustrated to us is that the film version of Tony Stark hides all of his pain through humour, basically pulling a Petey Parker. The comedy in Iron Man 3 was probably better than it was in the Avengers, Thor and Captain America. But considering you seem like an unhappy fanboy who just likes to complain, then sure, don't listen to me and my reasoning.

However, on topic, Guardians of Galaxy is… already has shaped up to be a Box Office Silent Hit showing the world that you don't need a B-List property when your C-List is just as good. The villains in this film, The Kree, make my fanboy panties all wet. Introducing the Kree into the film universe is exciting and I'm surprised that the Kree isn't part of the Fantastic Four package. Does anyone know what the deal with the alien species are with Marvel's deals?
