Dave Bautista is one of the most outspoken actors working in Hollywood today (which is definitely refreshing), and he's certainly not shied away from taking aim at Marvel Studios in recent months.
In 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, it was firmly established that Drax hoped to kill Thanos for the Mad Titan's role in the death of his wife and daughter. However, that subplot was very much forgotten about, and barely factored into movies like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Responding to a fan on Twitter yesterday, the Dune star shared his obvious disappointment.
"That whole Drax, Thanos history seemed to get swept under the rug," Bautista acknowledged. "Always wondered why but every reason I could come up with just makes me shake my f***ing head. It is what it is." Many fans agree with this sentiment, especially as the two characters have such a storied history in the comic books. Ultimately, it seems there just wasn't time to explore this.
Of course, it probably doesn't help that Drax became a comedy character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, something that might have made it harder for fans to buy into his hatred for Thanos. Given how dissatisfied Bautista has seemingly become with his role in the MCU, we're betting Vol. 3 will be his final appearance as Drax (it just depends what James Gunn has planned for him in the threequel).
