It seemed as if every actor between 25 and 35 was up for the lead in Guardians Of The Galaxy at one point. Of course the role went to Zero Dark 30's Chris Pratt, but now we're starting to hear from some of his competition, and first up it's Cloud Atlas thesp Jim Sturgess. He reveals to MTV that he got pretty far in the audition process, and even tried on Star Lord's costume - though he doesn't give us any idea as to what it might have looked like. "You should have told me! I would have been crunching in the dressing room!" jokes Sturgess, patting his stomach. He also talks a little about the "fantasy landscape" of the film and some of the more outlandish characters.
"I got way further than I'd ever imagined I possibly could. As you get further and further down the line, you start caring about it more and more. The competitiveness in you starts kicking in. But I was amazed I'd gotten as far down the line as I did. As you find out more about what the movie is about — it's set in a total fantasy landscape, which was intriguing to me. This guy has a talking raccoon and a giant human tree or something like that. It's more in the world of kind of 'Star Wars,' I guess."
