RUMOR: Iron Man To Appear In GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

There has been little news on the Guardians of The Galaxy movie lately, but now according to a new report, Marvel could be looking to Robert Downy Jr. to make an appearance in the film as Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Get the salt shakers out! News has been pretty quiet on the Marvel movie front lately. More specifically Guardians of The Galaxy. It seems that may not be the case any more. According to comicbook.com they have a source that says none other than Robert Downy Jr. will appear in the film as his popular Tony Star/Iron Man character. They ran a story a couple weeks back speculating after the Guardians of The Galaxy comic book cover was revealed at New York Comic Con that showed a character the looked suspiciously like Iron Man. It was later confirmed to be Iron Man and Comicbook.com's source in now confirming that they were right about Iron Man appearing in the movie.

Now keep in mind this is NOT confirmed. To be honest, it seems a little far fetched. Right now Robert Downy Jr. is at the tail end of his contract with Marvel. So unless he signs another multipicture deal, it would seem very unlikely that they would use him in this capacity.

As of right now we only know a couple of concrete things about Guardians of The Galaxy. First being that is will be released on August 1st of 2014. The other is that James Gunn has been hired to directed it. We have seen some concept art that was reveled at San Diego Comic Con, however rumors suggest that the line up in the art may not be final. Iron Man is confirmed to be in the new Bendis GOTG comic, so that automatically means that Iron Man is in James Gunn's GOTG? Don't get me wrong, it would be awesome, but I think a few pages got skipped, there.

Remember how Iron Man 3 is the last movie on RDJr's contract? I don't believe they'll push him a bazillion more dollars to cameo in GotG. We won't see him between Iron Man 3 and Avengers 2.

This movie is going to bomb so hard. The general public will not go for a raccoon with an assault rifle. So stupid.

can't see it but i would love to see a scene play out in the avengers one day like this.

the avengers all go back to the avengers tower after a mission & iron man opens up his face plate to reveal an old looking grey haired tony stark.

iron man with a warning about the future maybe something to do with kang & ultron.

Well he did cameo in The Incredible Hulk, so its not impossible, but I would say if he does appear in GOTG, its going to be nothing more than a cameo.

People went to see Avatar for the new groundbreaking 3D effects and the fact that it was James Cameron's hype machine. Fast forward to today and Avatar gets pretty poor reviews from moviegoers.

I heard iron man is making an appearance in Lincoln to draw the young demographics and families in. He's gonna fight off all the Confederate Democrats and then high five Lincoln on his way out

to be honest ... iron man could be in it ... but it doesnt have to be RDJ, they could be introducing a new actor to play him ... or is RDJ set for the avengers 2 ... forgot about that :/

I like RDJ as Tony Stark but please stop making him the centre of attention, I get it he's great we love him but I hope in Avengers 2 we get more of Cap leading like he did at the end of Avengers.

what would be funny is if the final set up in GOTG shows them getting ready to assualt that massive ship from the end of Avengers. only to see from a side perspective Tony toss that bomb at it and destroy it. then the GOTG kind of shrug and make a Staples TM 'that was easy' comment with RRaccoon hitting a red button.

It's a Marvel film so the crossovers can happen at any tike now but what I really want to see is Hulk in an Iron Man film or vice versa so that we can finally see some Hulkbuster armor! Now that would be freaking sweet!!!

Can't think of Rocket Racoon without thinking of Rocky the Flying Squirrel. Throw in Bullwinkle and you might have yourself an interesting premise for a film. My dna radiates Marvel but I can't see how Guardians of the Galaxy is going to engage with the average moviegoer.

Since Tony Stark will be in the GOTG comics written by Brian Michael Bendis, we could see Tony in GOTG in 2014. If Robert signs another deal with Marvel.

Ehhh... doubt it. Iron Man is a big pull, but doubt they would do this for several reasons.

1. Iron Man 3 may be RDJ's last MCU film.
2. If they can stretch that contract it would be more than likely to have him in Avengers 2 and 3. Perhaps even Iron Man 4 although doubt they'll be doing that anytime soon.
3. Much like what they are currently doing in the comic GOTG it's a little redundant. Seriously, I know Iron Man is one of their bigger characters now but he's almost always front and center in every book he's in! And if he's not front and center in something then he's going to be sure to make a cameo. Which is fine... up to a point. And they've nearly reached it.

If they do do it, which I'll say again I doubt, it'll probably be a cameo like in TIH.

Really like the suggestions of GOTG seeing Iron Man at the end of Avengers with the bomb.

THAT WOULD BE COOL!!
