FRIDAY THE 13TH Sequel Is Going To Be A Found Footage Film?! Say It Isn't So!

A recent tweet from Ryan Turek of Shock Till You Drop suggests that Paramount is looking to make a sequel to 2009's Friday The 13th reboot and plan to do it as found footage.

After 2009's Friday The 13th reboot got a bashing from both critics and fans yet earned a whopping $91 million on a $19 million budget, a sequel seemed inevitable. Yet that announcement was never made and the producers proclaimed the sequel dead. Then recently this past summer, Warner Brothers returned the full rights to Paramount. Now possible news has been released thanks to a tweet by Ryan Turek, editor and Shock Till You Drop, about what Paramount envisions for the reboot's sequel.

Hearing the producers of the new Friday the 13th are still fielding pitches for a "found footage" take. #exclusivetweet ? #FridayThe13th

I find this tweet scarier than Jason X. The prospect that this franchise about one of the most respected fictional serial killers will be stylistically changed just to easily attract the Paranormal Activity crowd makes me a sad Friday The 13th fan. This is coming from someone who also really likes and respects the 2009 reboot. But maybe that's just me. How do you feel about the possibility that the sequel will seek to change the franchises style and is it an improvement? Is this just another cheap cash cow being used? Will this provide for better scares or more nausea? Let me know below and please:

Could be cool IF done right.

Bring back the old school horror.

The last Jason movie felt like a spoof.

I don't remember the last time I saw a horror movie that didn't involve sex craved teenagers who just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Have something new.

It will make over $30M in it's opening weekend and then tank over 80% just like every other horror movie that comes out today.

Horror is a dying genre. Found footage movies suck and all this crap with teens in a cabin getting hunted by some lunatic is old as [frick].

conjuring was the best horror movie from 2010 - 2013
along with insidious in my eyes

but what does found footage mean?....so like paranormal activity?....if so i dont have a problem with that...it will be a little dumb but im sure it will be OK at best...i think its a bad idea but again its something NEW at least...but does seem to be wack...i think thats just them NOT trying lol
the 2009 reboot was pretty good...i liked it since im a jason fan!
also rob zombies halloween was good/scary!!

I don't see why this is a problem. There have been 11 Friday the 13th films to date (12 if you count Freddy vs. Jason), I don't see what's wrong with shooting one of them in a different format. I mean, horror as a whole needs to start being more original, with more depth, complexity, better writing, etc., but if you're going to do an umpteenth sequel to a franchise, I think it's fine to shake it up a little.

What the hell is wrong with you Hollywood. Downgrading Friday The 13th to the most overused cliche of horror films today, found footage...

I don't count Paranormal activity, Insidious, and The Conjuring as horror films. They are more suspenseful in my opinion.

Okay Hollywood here is what to do, have Joseph Gordon-Levitt direct and star in the Friday The 13th sequel. Have Sam Raimi write the script and produce the movie. Get Bruce Campbell to play Jason. Also in other starring roles have Michael C. Hall, Aaron Paul, Dakota Johnson, and Chloe Bennet. Then call the movie "13".

Man, [frick] scary movies! They were dead a long time ago. Nobody can make them like they use to anymore so why are you wasting our time with this particular horror film?

I don't know if a found footage film would work for Friday the 13th. The series hasn't been very good since Jason Lives, not counting Freddy vs. Jason of course.

I hope this is a joke I can't stand the paranormal movies. I can't figure out why they are R? I have watched the first and the newest ones and they are boring. I saw the Mama movie and that was more scary and was PG13. So I hope this fake. But sadly it won't be. I know I will get hate for this but I would prefer more horror then gore in the next Friday the 13th.

I would prefer more horror in general over gore. I saw the remake of evil dead and when a person died they had so much blood you would have thought a hundred people died. So having so much gore makes the movie less real. I prefer when it is less and that make it more believable.

Also movies need to look at the games Stalker and Amnesia. Those games are real horror. They come from Russia and Ukraine but a lot could be learned from them. Why can't American horror be as scary as those or ones from Korea and Japan?

That all being said hopefully they can get a good movie out. Plus not release it in 2015 or it for sure wont make lots of money.

Evil Dead was actually good and better than those S****y ghost, exorcism and found footage so called horror films. It was a homage to the 80's, But i'm not sure about another Friday The 13th so soon. It would take a miracle to revitalize this franchise!

I already heard about this idea about a couple of years ago, also this is mostly based on something this guy heard, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are sticking with it...

why all the hate for the reboot? sex crazed teenagers getting torn to pieces for no other reason then they are where they shouldnt be is the ONLY reason we see these in the first place.. isnt it?
