Ghostbusters 3 Casting Rumors Begin AGAIN

Ghostbusters 3 Casting Rumors Begin AGAIN

As we know know, Ghostbusters 3 is a sure thing for an Autumn(Fall) start and casting is said to be getting under-way soon in in Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. According to Whats Playing, auditions for “young male and female actors aged 18-30″ are on the cards and they confirm that the film will feature a band of new, young recruits.

But some of those new recruit's places are already being eyed up by some of today's SNL brightest young stars according to the rumor mill. Apparently Anna Faris, Bill Heder and Will Forte are being looked at. The Faris rumor broke first, and Whats Playing then did some digging. A contact at Sony reported back..

“Dunno. First I’ve heard of it. Heard Will Forte’s name mentioned and Bill Hader, but not Faris. I’m not in on all that though, so she could be; [Sony] does like her”.

The original team of Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hunson and Harold Ramis, along with Sigourney Weaver are all expected to make appearances too. If the above trio are in line for roles I guess it makes sense since most of the original cast started out on SNL back in the day. Of course one could argue that there was a slight(big?) difference in talent back in that day! Regardless, Faris is a fine comedic actress. The other 2 I could kinda take or leave but I guess they could do much worse too. What do you think?

dunno about any of those. im not a big fan of any of them. if they are bringing new characters in i would like to see someone a bit older, i just dont get the new young comedy actors. For some reason i would like to see Kevin James as a Ghostbuster.

Look, as much as I want the original team back in some form, be realistic about it. They are all approaching/beyond pension age for frak sake! You really think they wanna be running around blasting ghosts and doing all of the action stuff at their age? There ha sto be successors in every field. Just be thankful its not a remake!

Bill Hader and Jon Heder are not the same person ;)

I like Anna Faris. Will Forte can be funny but usually he's just annoying.

Sure. I just like that the original cast members will be making an appearance. Without Peter, Ray and Egon, forget it.

They will start a new franchise with the new guys prolly. I love Ghostbusters and as long as the originals are involved some how, some way, I will watch it. I'd like to see Jason Bateman in it. I think he would be perfect for the nerdy neurotic type.

ghostbusters was good, the second not so.

i think i might check it out i don't know.

i'd rather see gremlins 3 or maybe ghostbusters vs gremlins.

Can't argue with those ladies either. But Faris has made me laugh more than any of em in films, plus I think she's kinda hot!

Wow you all need to lighten up! It's just a movie! I know there are some hardcore Ghostbusters fans out there and I loved the 1st movie too, but if any of the recent comic book movies have shown us, Hollywood will make whatever kind of movie they want. They do not care if the comic fans love it or not. They care about the entire audience as a whole. It has to be appealing to all. Bill Hader and Will Forte are a friggin riot! I would go see it because of them, and Anna Farris is awesome too, House Bunny, enough said! Oh and side note, Anna Faris was never a regular on SNL, she has hosted before, but was not a regular. But Anyway, I know the idea of this movie upsets some of you, but really, either go see it or don't. Your constant complaining about things on this site never makes any difference to the finished product and ususally end up coming out great anyway. That is all! :)

I'm not a fan of Will Forte, but I do like Bill Hader, and Anna Faris. Instead of Will Forte, I would rather see Andy Samberg.

Ror- Really? I just never saw anything of hers. Just looking at her, i thought she was just gonna be some token eye candy since she is blistering hawt. If she's even more funny than the girls i mentionned, then i'm all good with it :))

Any films of hers to suggest? I know BlackOnyx1 mentionned House Bunny that i have yet to see.

Ghostbusters is a hard thing to mess up. As long as we see the original cast in some form or fashion, I'll be happy.

Wonder if Rick Moranis will come back from "retirement" to make an appearance.

Shaman, well she is in all of the Scary Movies, which I hate! But she is pretty good in them. But check out Observe And Report, she plays a complete asshat, and is hilarious. And yes, though it pains me to admit it, she even wrung a few giggles out of me in The House Bunny!

I think new team should have Jack Black and Justin Long.

Ror- Aw shit! That means i'd have to sit through a Seth Rogen film to see that... damn. I'll rent House Bunny first. Hated the Scary Movies too, but i only saw the first and second. And i can't even remember her being in them.

I have nothing against new Ghostbusters. But this movie should focus on the original Ghostbusters training these new ones with the originals getting the most screentime. Then at the end of the movie, the old Ghostbusters could pass on the torch to the new Ghostbusters meaning we could get a new trilogy about the new Ghostbusters but at least this movie in question would give the original Ghostbusters one last time to shine

An example would be the newest Star Trek movie, Aykroyd, Murray, Ramis etc could be in the Leonard Nimoy-type role while these new Ghostbusters could be in the younger crew-type role EXCEPT the screentime for the original Ghostbusters would be much much more. Let these new ones get their own trilogy a couple of years after

@Ror
Damn right Faris is hot and really funny. I will admit I dont like many of her movies but when the rest of the movie isnt funny, she always is

Oh wait! She had black hair in the first, didn't she? So she basically was the main character in it, right? I thought she sucked ass in Scary Movie! I didn't find her funny at all in them. I'll wait and see if House Bunny changes my mind about her...

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

It's sad when the most talented person out of the three is the bubble-headed blonde who was never a Saturday Night Live cast member.

I'm willing to accept that they may get new recruits but for God's sake, get somebody GOOD!

How about NPH? Or maybe Jason Lee? Or DAVE CHAPPELLE!!

In any case, I think they should steer WAAAAAY clear of anybody who joined the SNL cast after about 1996.

GREAT choices! Justin Long is brilliant. He was INCREDIBLY good in a movie called SASQUATCH GANG.

In fact, if they could get Joey Kern who played Long's sidekick in that movie, that'd be a recipe for absolute awesomeness!

If Andy Samberg, Jimmy Fallon, Darrel Hammond, Chris Kattan, or Tina Fey are in this movie, that will be a recipe for a F*CKING BOYCOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shaman@ Agree with your woman star choices! Amy Adams, Isla Fisher or Jenna Fischer all the way!

Only one i dont really like of these choices is Anna Faris, but rest are ok... Specially Hader! He is [frick]ing great in Superbad!
I dont mind new members at all, but i hope the old members gets some action too, even a little bit.
Now we just need more scarier ghost and demon villains, like in Extreme Ghostbusters. And [frick]ing great actors as them (Gary Oldman, Terence Stamp, Crispin Glover, Mads Mikkelsen, Bill Nighy, Michael Sheen)

I rather have this sequel, than remake!

Danny McBride, Brandon T. Jackson, Rob Corddry and Graig Robinson should all appear in this movie! Those guys are [frick]ing hilarious!:D... Specially Gorddry and McBride!!
Justin Long would be great in this too!

I saw this the otherday on a few sites and am very glad to see it on CBM, so thank you very much @Ror for posting this! Unfortunately, with all do respect to most of you against these casting choices, I LOVE IT!!! I think Farris' name has been thrown around into this thing for almost two years now and I have a strong feeling she will be in it! Hader and Forte are amazing, especially Hader, I love his work! I'm kinda new to Forte's work, but MacGruber was hilarious! I loved it.. but it comes down to this..I am forever a truly diehard fan of the Ghostbusters franchise through and through, inside and out, no matter what.. and I will do anything within my power to make sure I get this film made soon, I've waited my entire life for this, it will be a guaranteed dream come true! Nothing will ruin this movie for me no matter what, as long as it gets finally made, I WILL BE ECSTATIC!!!

Anna Faris, that would be ok,but not those two SNL guys, hell no. What happened to the rumors about having Eliza Dushku, Alyssa Milano & possibly Michael Cera as Oscar. that would be a lot more interesting
