Hitgirl To Star In Let The Right One In Remake

Chloe Moretz, who we will soon see as Hitgirl in Kick Ass, has been cast as Abby in Let Me In the lazily retitled remake of the excellent Swedish Vampire movie, Let The Right One In...

Yes folks, the Hollywood remake machine keeps on turning its diabolical wheels. The next casualty is Let The Right One In, the amazing Swedish film about kiddie Vampire love(that does not sound right at all!)

Joining the already cast Kodi Smit-McPhee(The Road) as Owen and Richard Jenkins(Burn After Reading) as the character formerly known as Hakan(The press releases avoid giving us this character’s new moniker for some reason) is Chloe Moretz as Abby(formerly Elie). Moretz was of course last seen stealing the show as Hitgirl in the leaked Kick Ass footage and has been nominated each of the past three years for a Young Artist Award.

As for this movie? Well, the cast is excellent, so maybe director Matt Reeves will pull off that rare thing of a decent remake. Or at least, I hope he does. Because the original is a masterpiece imo. Not a traditional Vampire horror movie by any stretch, its kind of more a coming of age story about a bullied young boy who strikes up a friendship with his new neighbor..only she happens to be a vampire. There are some bloody bits and some creepy moments but as Elie teaches Oscar how to stand up for himself and in return gets some of her humanity back it really becomes a pretty touching story about friendship.

I recommend you see it before the remake, just in case!

Excellent film.

Depresses me that the guy that did Cloverfield is doing this, but He might do it justice, but I don't have faith he will.

And I wonder if they will keep the little twist about Elie/Abby in this one.......

If anyone is interested, and they have Netflix in the U.S. (though I'm not sure they're outside of the U.S.) the original is available to watch on the website. That's where I saw it.

Became an instant favorite as soon as the credits rolled.

Very good film i hope they keep the story intact because its one of the best vampire movies.

The tone is dark and ominous, it's like hey this is what being a vampire is like, very creepy and cool

The original one was pretty cool. Extremely strange in some parts but it was truely a dark and creepy masterpiece.

I don't think they should remake it. Just watch the original

y doesnt america just stop remaking great foreign horror movies which end up being either appalling versions or pg13 and actually come up with some original horrow ideas!

i mean look, juh-on (the grudge), this, the ring, heck not many people know this but saw was a ripoff of an australian short film!

Depends on what you like in your movies. I'm pretty sure anyone that likes a good story, appreciates powerful performances and doesn't need an explosion every 10 minutes to hold their attention will love it.

I absolutely loved the original and I was deeply saddened to hear about the remake as it is something that is definitly not needed!

Now all that is left is to say bring on 'The Road'!!!

The book and the original movie are amazing. I definitely recommend reading the book first. Gives you a ton a backstory to the characters. One of the best "twists" I have ever read/scene...never saw it coming and the end is balls! Reeves' has got talent, but he better not eff this one up.

The original is an amazing film, easily one of the best vampire films in a long time. Kind of makes me nervous to hear about a remake, but the cast seems to be decent.

It's such BS that they are remaking this movie. The first one is great. What hollywood can't come up with new ideas? and the american public is to retarded to read the captions? LAME!

Not all that surprising really, they've been remaking Japanese and Asian horror flicks for years now. The Grudge, The Ring, The Eye etc. etc. It's just a shame that "Let The Right One In" is going to be Americanized, thus they'll dumb it down while hamming up the gore aspect and completely bypass the original's essence.

The most impressive thing for me about the original was that the two kids who played Eli and Oscar had never acted in front of a camera, they were basically pulled out of a school play. The performance they gave was fantastic.

But again, too bad it's going to get shit on. Not to take away from the talents of the cast they assembled but Hollywood will get its claws into it and do some politically correct dodging of the original's content which will compromise everything else and the shitfest will commence in a domino effect. Kind of how they short-sighted the relationship between Matilda and Leon in "Leon: The Professional". This is what happens when you take an expressive film from another culture and impose rigid American views on it. You rob it of its integrity and that is what will happen to this great vampire film.

Eli will probably sparkle in the sunshine.

as long as I don't see 13 year old vag again, it should be good.
