Twisted Pictures May Revisit Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 3D

Leatherface is making his way to a theater near you, with the help of Twisted Pictures...this time in 3D

It's unclear why the Platinum Dunes producers--Brad Fuller and Andrew Form--announced the end of the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" franchise when the 2003 remake earned $110 million on a $9 million budget as well as its prequel in 2006 earning $55 million on a $13 million budget.

It now seems the end of Leatherface may not be on the horizon after all. Twisted Pictures, the production company responsible for the "Saw" horror franchise, is currently in the process of acquiring the rights to "Texas Chainsaw Massacre." This would mean Leatherface and Jigsaw would appear under the same production company.

With the deal in favor of Twisted Pictures, the plan is to follow the trend of bringing the film in 3D format, which should be scripted by the screenwriter who brought "Grudge 3," Stephen Susco. Similar to "Saw," Twisted Pictures will develop multiple installments of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre."

Whispers68: I'm a fan of the "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" released in 2003, but the follow-up prequel was a disaster in my opinion. Too many things were wrong with the outcome so I'm a bit worried this franchise has met its end creatively. Perhaps Twisted Pictures could resuscitate Leatherface. My other concern is with the idea of introducing several installments, does this mean we'll see a film roughly every year or so? Is anyone awaiting another "Texas Chainsaw Massacre?"

I am tired of eveything now being in 3D. Didnt they do that with a lot of movies in the 80's? If memory serves me one of the Friday the 13th movies was in 3D. I dont care about 3D unless it is three girls with double d's in three 3D then I might pay some money to see that.

Why does it say I posted this on the 8th, when I just posted in about thirty minutes ago? And how did it end up in its current location?

Dude, I don't understand it really. I've noticed this on perhaps four different occasions. I post the article after one of the editors and yet mine gets pushed ahead one day earlier so if it does end up on the first page, it gets lost in the old articles, whereas their article is listed as the current date and therefore at the very top. I can't help but laugh at "Technology."

But this 3D phase has bothered me ever since they started making the jump from traditional features to 3D horror remakes.I really hated "My Bloody Valentine 3D" as well as "Final Destination 3D." I know the bandwagon can be fun at times, but someone should choose to go the other route because the bandwagon can also be heading in the wrong direction

The remake was good. Although it may have more to do with watching Jessica biel run around in a white tank top for an hour and half that anything else. But a new one every year at Halloween would just get old. As I believe the saw franchise has.

You know I have yet to watch any of the Saw movies. Are they any good?

i actually love leatherface, or any other horror character who does not show there face (i love scary masks), and i am waiting for another TCM but the way they left it off. was weird. and now the writers have no way to go story wise.. for the record i am NOT a fan of 3-D!

i liked the re-make but that prequal was just OK, i liked how they tied everything in and the origins part but the rest was predictable!

"Saw" is like many franchises...begins with as much glitter and gold as could possibly be and suddenly the spark begins to fizzle like a 10-year old marriage where both partners involved seem to no longer care about making things interesting, so they simply remain for comfort, mediocrity or complacency. Not to say the franchise sucks, but how many times can you continue passing the torch to someone? How many times can you continue beating a dead horse until you realize he's been dead since your third hit? Well, each movie had a budget no more than $11 million and yet their box office take worldwide is usually nine times that.

We continue seeing watching them, so they continue making them.

F**k man, they beat these movies more then all of us have beat ourselves. Do something new for Christ sake, invent some new killers, monsters, psychos, and what have you. Just be original, look how good and inventive the Saw movies have been, why? because they made you think. It wasn't some little bitch running and tripping through the woods screaming with the audience hoping she gets killed just to shut her the f**k up.
