Guillermo Del Toro Says THE HULK TV Show Is Inactive; Offers Up Update on HELLBOY 3

With ABC and Marvel getting the S.H.I.E.L.D. television show going, a lot of people have been wondering whether we could see some movement on The Hulk TV show as well. According to Guillermo Del Toro, who chatted with MTV, there has been no movement on the project for the last eight months. He also said that Hellboy 3 is looking like a real possibility to get made, but all they are waiting on is financing. Check the video out below where he talks about The Hulk show, Hellboy 3, as well as a number of other things.

On The Hulk Show:

"Right now, all I know is we've been in a holding pattern for the last eight months. All The say is we're waiting on a writer, but it's been inactive. It's still there as far as I know, but there's been no action on it."

On Hellboy 3:

"Finlay all the culprits have agreed to try. It's very hard to find who will finance it. The Biggest chapter in the three movies is Hellboy becomes The Beast Of The Apocalypse. So we have been inquiring, but if you have a rich uncle that has 130-150 million dollars...."(laughs)

So there you have it. It looks like The Hulk project isn't dead yet, but it also doesn't look like Marvel is actively trying to get it done either. The good news is that if they can find a backer for the movie Hellboy 3 is a go. For the latest on all things Hellboy and Hulk TV show make sure to check back here at CBM.

@batz11 I love Whedon too, but please stop being one of those mindless idiots who thinks the only solution to any movie or comic is Joss Whedon. He can't do every damn thing

This is good news. There is only one Hulk now...and his name is Mark Ruffalo.

This just isn't fair for the hulk. They will be like "we're not going to make another hulk film cause we're making him a show instead" And that show willer never be made, and if so, it will probably be a train wreck like bionic-woman

Yeah, no Hulk on tv is ok. On the Avengers commentary Whedon brought up how expensive it was to have the jade giant onscreen. If a massive summer blockbuster can't afford too much screen time imagine how disappointing the tv results would be.

What?! Is there a sign on this an saying "please take the piss with the work that I try to do" because Pacific Rim seems to be the lucky one that has managed to slip in there. And the only one since Hellboy II, I might add. As a big Del Toro fan, this is a constant irritation. There should be a documentary on all the projects that he hasn't made.

don't make a TV show, make a movie Guillermo!

Thought this might be the case. After Avengers Hulk was back in the limelight as a top character.

Before he had been kinda written off as wasn't really being a box office hit.

However now it seems there is money to be made from Hulk movies again, so why risk ruining that with a TV that will no doubt have a smaller budget to work from.

When Marvel moved forward with the SHIELD series, it was obvious Hulk would get sidelined. Also, a new Hulk show sounded too good to be true.

Man, it's too bad Hulk won't be on the BIG screen for a while, seeing as how Marvel has quite the projects going on. Still....

...I'm sure we'll see him soon. :)

I would say the reason why The Hulk TV seris as not yet to get off the ground is because Marvel are working on Phase 2 & S.H.I.E.L.D TV series. And Guillermo Del Toro is working on his sci-fi film Pacific Rim. I hope Marvel & Guillermo Del Toro get The Hulk TV series going, because I can't wait to see The Hulk get his own Tv series again.

marvel has been holding it off ever since hulk became popular with the avengers. i think marvel's decided to maybe to a full-fledged hulk movie in phase 3.

i have a feeling the SHIELD tv show is what we got instead of this.

i met mike mignola this weekend at NYCC, and apart from seeming like the fans were a bother to him, when i brought up the make a wish thing with Ron being hellboy, and anything like that is good cuz it brings us closer to hellboy 3, he rolled his eyes, and all buy said its not going to happen. bummer, hellboy 2 is one of the most gorgous films ive seen.

did anybody really ever believe for one minute that this was ever in a million years going to happen?

i will never deny that GDT is a great filmmaker, but he annoys the shit out of me. with his 'i'm cool because i always swear' nonsense, and signing up for 20 projects a year, and the cute little jokes (case in point - the rich uncle).

great filmmaker - annoying as hell person. i feel sorry for the people who thought this would actually happen and are now let down.

How exactly would they do the HULK for TV anyway? A TV show doesn't have the budget for a full on CG HULK like the movies, and I don't think people want to see a green painted body builder in jean shorts anymore. Why not just do a serious Punisher TV series on FX, AMC or HBO. With shows like Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy, Dexter and The Walking Dead all being top rated shows about violent, morally ambiguous characters, a gritty Punisher TV series could be the next big thing if done right.
