The good folks from Collider has posted yet another segment from their long chat with Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro. This time revealing the current status of Marvel's planned Hulk TV series, in addition to a number of superhero films he's nearly directed, watch the nearly-four-minute video interview below!

“I had one meeting with Marvel after Avengers and we had a very, very good chat. We have a writer that we want to bring on board, a very, very concrete name. I can’t reveal it, but we want to wait for that writer. It’s a writer who is otherwise engaged. So right now we are in a holding pattern until that writer becomes free. Then we’re going to do a new draft of the script.”

I can't even begin to summarize how stupid that comment is, so here is the best I could do.

Del Toro...Dr Strange. Just think of his Dark Dimension, crazy puppets and makeup, and general weirdness.
How awesome would a Del Toro styled Nightmare would look!?!?! or Dormammu!

Where did all this hate for the guy come from? He's an amazing director with a unique vision. As Tim Burton has fallen off, I'd say he's, in a way, taken his place. Great director. Looking forward to Pacific Rim and Hellboy 3.

Agreed, del Toro , ALWAYS disappoints. I don't get the hype on this cat any longer. He's always attatched to really interesting sounding projects, and they always make me walk away scratching my head. He misses the mark, EVERY TIME.

I hated Hellboy, well, ok, didn't HATE, but it just wasn't as amusing as it was trying to be. I LOVED Pan's Labyrinth, however, and think it's his best movie by far.

I read however, that if he were to direct Doctor Strange, the first thing he would do would be remove the cloak of levitation.... which is a big no-no.

Not saying I don't like Guillermo del Toro, I just don't think he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Visually, DEL TORO and Thor woulda been a gift from the heavens!

Enjoyed Kenneth Branagh's Thor quite a bit but...

Imagine Del Torro with that script? Again not that it was the best but...

Chronos, The Devil's Backbone, Pan's Labyrinth all superior films to the crap he's phoned in for Hollywood. Del Toro is beyond this comic book stuff but he actually cares about the genre so he gets involved. Anyone who hasn't seen his other movies have no idea of the talents of the man and anyone saying Pans Labyrinth is crap has about as much understanding of cinema as a 4 year old!

Just let Del Toro make a live action Hulk MOVIE (it's not like he's inexperienced or anything. He's primarily a MOVIE director). Now that they've moved past the partial-control-of-the-monster thing in the Avengers, they should finally move on to some real Hulk stories like Planet Hulk and whatnot. I mean, Del Toro rules, Hulk is finally popular with even the general public, they've finally got the look and the effects right, and Marvel I'm sure has the money to shell out for it.

JUST DO A MOVIE. WITH DEL TORO HELMING IT.

As for the Tv series, if they really go through with it, they'd better not skimp out. We need a Hulk that looks at least somewhat at the level of Avengers. Spend the money on the cgi/motion capture stuff, because guy-in-green-paint ain't gonna fly in 2012+.

Personally I have enjoyed everything he has directed. I look forward to projects with his name attached to them. Most of all I am looking forward to a movie adaptation of the novels he and Chuck Hogan wrote, "The Strain Trilogy". I am not the biggest fan of Dr. Strange but I could definitely see his style as the best choice for that movie.

Maybe this is why they didn't announce a sequel to The Incredible Hulk? Perhaps this series would take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They wouldn't necessarily have to have Ruffalo either (CGI Hulk), although it would be difficult to not have him appear at all.
