A few years back, a rumor did the rounds online that Marvel Studios was developing a Planet Hulk movie. The report seemed a little far-fetched for several reasons (Marvel still hadn't regained the solo movie distribution rights to the character, for one), and ultimately proved to be misleading - though the studio did end up adapting elements of the story for Thor: Ragnarok.
Now, a new rumor is claiming that a movie based on Greg Pak and John Romita Jr.'s follow-up, World War Hulk, is in the works. We don't have very much to go on, but GWW reckons production could get underway as soon as next year.
As far as we know, Marvel/Disney has fully regained the right to the Green Goliath, so it's certainly possible that Kevin Feige and co. will look to capitalize sooner rather than later, and World War Hulk would be an epic event to draw from. Of course, it's highly unlikely that this project would be a direct adaptation of the comic, but the basic premise - a rampaging Hulk seeking revenge on Earth's Mightiest Heroes - has a lot of potential.
Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) showed up in the post-credits scene for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and will also have a role to play in the upcoming Disney+ She-Hulk series, so there are clearly plans in place for the volatile Avenger moving forward.
You should probably take this with a healthy dose of scepticism for now, but we certainly hope there's some truth to it. What do you guys think? Would you like to see World War Hulk play out on the big screen? Drop us a comment down below.
