Fair point. The twist won't bother me either, I still don't know who the Mandarin is, hell I've only read one comic book ever(Long Halloween). But still, it's really low to blatantly spoil a movie like that.

Mr. Spock, I'm just annoyed that the movie's twist was ruined. I could give two shits about the character in the movie, in relation to the character in the comic. They are two different universes.

This is a movie, and the ending has been ruined.

In the Iron Man comics in the 60's, the Mandarin wasn't a racist joke, but rather what we know would consider a racist stereotype. The Mandarin was a cheesy villain based upon a stereotype that would never be accepted in the modern world. The new films HAD to change the character to appeal to modern audiences or he could not have been used.

I haven't seen the IM3 film yet, and I'm glad I have not seen whatever twist y'all are talking about. But those people complaining that modern versions of comic book heroes look too different from their movie versions are blind to the fact that an accurate portrayal of many of these heroes and the matching villains would look stupid if they were accurate to the comics.

I get it your trying to be a troll but there are ways to get peoples reactions to this in a more civilized way. Write an article 2 or 3 paragraphs long explaining you gripe with the movie. I understand you wanted a more comic accurate version of The Mandarin but we all dont get what we want (I wanted a real Bane). Just put SPOILER in the title and rant all you want. I woulda came to your article to see what the spoiler was.

Just seen iron man 3 and i really enjoyed it the twist really works and shows tony at his best. Going again tomorrow and I cannot wait

I think it's...the most movie-ish entry in the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe, and I mean that as a really good thing. It does deviate a lot from the material source, but at this point, I really couldn't care less about that; it's an adaptation, after all, and Shane Black in particular has been describing it as just that. And yes, it's not as stylish, or well-polished as the previous entries, and it perhaps does tone down the whole spectacle scope (especially after The Avengers), but in exchange, we get an extremely well-driven character piece, still packed with thrilling action here and there. Quite different tonally to the other Marvel Studios outing, too, but I think it's for the better. I can discuss about it on and on, but it will be hard to keep it spoiler-free - let's just say, it's full of surprises. I've been spoiled beforehand (and I don't mind spoilers), yet some parts still come up as rather unexpected, so...well, I think it's fair to say that it's still got a lot to offer than the spreading spoiler think it does. Whedon is right; it's a Marvel movie on a whole 'nother level, and it does make it clear that Tony Stark is in very right hands, this time. And...yeah, I guess it will be quite a work to top that script!

So they f*cked up the Mandarin, huh? No surprise. I've been expecting that since the first time I saw him brought up here. Sounds like a huge disappointment in that we won't get to see the ten rings being used. The Mandarin's rings were always what made him such a cool and formidable villain. As for this "racist stereotype" garbage? Give me a f*cking break. Mandarin comes from a time before everyone was so f*cking anal and whiney about any slight or imagined "offense" against anyone. I'm glad I grew up in the '70's and '80s, when people had much thicker skin.
