Marvel Already Looking For Extras For Iron Man 3 Shoot In Wilmington North Carolina; Filming Could Start In May?

Though filming is still a not expected for a few more months, a rumor surfaces that may reveal that Marvel is already stepping up its search for extras for Iron Man 3 in Wilmington North Carolina....

Here is what Premiere Casting said on their facebook page about finding out Iron Man 3's extra search in Wilmington NC (transcript via On Location Vacations):

One of their recent Facebook posts reads, “Received an email this morning. Iron Man 3 will use about 1,000 extras during the film and there will be over 550 crew jobs and will be shooting from May 2012 until January 2013 with a Memorial Day weekend release in 2013.”


Iron Man 3 will be directed by Shane Black, and star Robert Downey Jr; hitting theaters May 6th 2013.

@spidey91: It might be the total number. Like they might need 500 for a city scene or 300 for a court case, stuff like that. 1,000 is still a very impressive number

excellent,hopfully iron man 2 was its third movie curse now we'll get a decent iron man 3.

oh yeah i think its gonna be the armour wars story because at the start of iron man 2 it showed other nations devolping their own iron man armours,maybe thats the route it will take involving the mandarin & ghost.

The October Press Release had those exact numbers for crew/talent, but listed completely different months of operation.

As with a lot of other stuff from "On Location Vacations", I think they took part of their "news" from something real (the press release said 550 crew jobs and 1000 talent opportunities) and part of it from old rumors (the May-January shoot dates came from Latino Review's initial rumor about the NC shoot, which were then corrected by the press release.)

Love the Iron Man films and he has been my favirote comic book character since childhood. I really don't want to see another armoured villian. We have seen that twice now. If this is the last stand alone Iron Man film then surely we need/should/deserve to see something fantastic.

Mandarin and Fin Fang Foom would be great on screen. You already have the fantasy/magical elment with Thor in this universe, and we know it works quite well so why hell not!

Although I like Iron Man 2 and it grows on me each time I watch it I have always thought Mandarin should have been introduced into it as the man behind Justin Hammer (but not the center of attention). Taken the Armour Wars story line and given it a twist with stealing starks designs and armour to sell and use to build his army or create chaos as Hammer's tech is/proven inferior, all stolen by Taskmaster or something as capable.

I'm sure Black with give us a hell of a movie either way.

I live in NC, but unfortunately I live about 4 hours away from where they are filming. Not exactly an easy trip to find time to make.
