It's no secret that fans are interested in Iron Man 3, but financial website Motley Fool thinks that investors should be interested as well. In a recent video, Motley Fool contributor Tim Beyer has predicted that Iron Man 3 will top a billion dollars. If this is true, it could be the first film of 2013 to hit the coveted billion dollar mark.

Beyer cites excellent casting, the success of the Avengers, inflation, and Disney's intelligent distribution of the film as reasons to count on the film's success.

In a slightly more inflammatory mode, Motley Fool's website has another prediction (and one guaranteed to start flame wars): "This time, Iron Man will crush Spidey." According to Motley Fool, "For all his success, Robert Downey Jr., as Iron Man, has never proven to be as popular as either Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield, both of whom have played Spider-Man on the big screen." However, they see reason to believe that Iron Man 3 could change all that.

What do you think? Does Iron Man alone have what it takes to hit a billion? Or does Stark need his Avengers buddies to strike it quite that rich?
