A few hours ago, I was lucky enough to be at the Dorchester Hotel in London for the Iron Man 3 UK press conference. To be honest, there wasn't anything particularly "big" revealed in terms of what we should expect from the future of the franchise, but I'll be posting some of the more interesting highlights over the next couple of days. For now, here are some photos and a brief video (of Robert Downey Jr. being his usual awesome self) from the event to keep you going. Unfortunately, the embargo on my review doesn't lift until the 24th (that's the 23rd for those of you outside the UK) so check back then for my take on the movie! Stay tuned to CBM for more Iron Man 3 news.

Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

STARRING:

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man
Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin
Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts
Don Cheadle as Rhodey/War Machine
Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian
Rebecca Hall as Dr. Maya Hansen
Ashley Hamilton as Jack Taggert
James Badge Dale as Eric Savin
Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan

RELEASE DATE: April 25th, 2013 (UK). May 3rd, 2013 (US).

Hi Guy's I read more than i post but I have been registered here for some time...I'm shy ;-) Was at the UK screening/press conference - It was a fantastic movie and event, I was fortunate to be the one to ask the question in the clip above and Downey sort of answered it :)

Downey definetely was trying to graciously deflect having ALL the questions coming he's way and tried to give some shine to he's co-stars and director. There's a funny situation that acted as a visual joke and metaphor; of the recording devices placed on the table that the cast/crew were seated at 95% of them were placed by the name card of RDJnr...

By the way @Josh, is there a way to speak about the film without spoiling it like DM or something? I always find your take on the CBM's very interesting and would love to chat to any fellow geek about some of the nitty gritty - hate it when people spoil it for everyone else.com

My suspicions are getting confirmed by the reviewers.

Iron Man 3 seems to be a winner.

Oh brother, I can't wait to see.

I'm VERY tempted to say 4 out of 4 but my credibility wold likely be in question ;-) I think its better than Iron Man 2 and possibly 1 but the first film obviously is like first love or your first born child so your meant to love it differently but it was that awesome...

I will say without saying too much, that it is very much a Shane Black take on Iron Man and he certainly isn't director of the week or hack for hire - he's fingerprints are all over the film...

I am glad they let Shane Black put his fingerprints all over this film. I really feel as if the Phase 2 era of the MCU will allow for more risks to be taken now that the Avengers project was a success and they don't have to worry about setting the foundation for the cinematic universe to exist.

Your welcome RamonSuarez

This film in no way feels like a retread or yet ANOTHER movie in the franchise but has its own pulse a bit like the first movie and the trailers for once have not given ANYTHING substantial away, trust me. I hope that they continue to give criminally underused directors like Black more toys to play with and switch up the genres a bit.

@antariss

Shane Black is a real gem lost in a sea of shit. There was a time during the late 80s and early 90s when his screenplays were the hottest thing in the action genre. He practically reinvented the action comedy with his peculiar combination of dark anti-heroes and sardonic wit in R-rated plots. Unfortunately, some of the scripts he wrote were made by lesser directors and his stock fell by the late 1990s as a less cerebral coming family friendly type of action movie was coming into vogue.

Now that he's made Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang as well as Iron Man 3 Hollywood will recognize his talent and intelligence. I just hope we can see him handle another film in the Iron Man franchise.

@RamonSuarez Yes, Shane Black has talent. He has written great movies. He helped write one of my favorite childhood movies-Monster Squad

@TrueHero1987

I was just thinking of Monster Squad - an all time favorite of mine. It basically took a similar route as the Avengers. Get all of these really cool monsters like the Wolfman, Dracula, the Mummy, and Frankenstein with their own franchises and out them together in an epic team up.

Yes, anyone at a press screening has to submit to an embargo until closer to the release date or you won't get invited to such events again i.e blacklisted!
