The film is being distributed by Walt Disney Pictures and will be released in the United States on March 9, 2012. Filming began in November 2009 and principal photography spanned from January 2010 to July 2010.The film also marks the first time Andrew Stanton will work on a live-action film, following his work on the Pixar animated films Finding Nemo and Wall-E.

Taylor Kitsch didn't ruin Gambit, The Director and the Writer did! He had done research for months on how to do a French Cajun Accent in the last few months they said to just go with a New Orleans accent. On top of that they just wrote him horridly.

Also the Dejah in the books was described as so

"skin was of a light reddish copper color, against which the crimson glow of her cheeks and the ruby of her beautifully molded lips shone with a strangely enhancing effect."

Not necessarily Red. More like what we call a Redbone.

I just hope this isn't just another cheaply made B-rate film. I've always felt the John Carter stories had great potential as a film seeing he was basically a version of Superman before S&S ever even thought of it. Leaping tall buildings in a single bound and super strength and all.

Done right, it could be a money making franchise.

As to Gambit: very few people who are not from around New Orleans have any clue how to do a proper Cajun accent. The best way I can describe what it sounds like is to show you:

Watch a little of this to hear a true Cajun accent, and to learn about cooking a true Louisiana delicacy: gumbo. I'll never forget seeing an X-Men comic years ago when they had Gambit ready to cook a Cajun gumbo with potatoes by the pot- which are NOT normally found in a gumbo!

Where are the little icons that allow deleting or editing of comments? Didn't mean to put that up twice.

Anyway, to be on topic, this is a good-looking movie, though I have to say I know little of the character. I will have to look into finding a couple of the books to familiarize myself with him before the movie comes out.

@MarvelWeiner EXACTLY wot I said in the trailer article comment! I don't kow much about John Carter so I googled after seeing the trailer (which was AMAZINF btw imo) but I felt Taylor needed to be waaaay more buff for the role & Lynn needed to be in something a lil more skimpier! (And I say a "lil more" cos it's Disney after all LOL!)
