Who do you think did it better Stallone or Urban? Should I get it in 3D or just Blu-ray? Do you think it should get a sequal? The floor is open and you're the Judges. Now answers this and then run around the house yelling "I AM THE LAW!" GO!

Best of 2012. Forget the batcrap - This movie was frickin' awesome.
Here's the thing...In my opinion Dredd is too complex to capture in a snapshot movie. What it needs is a TV Series - Gritty Galactica style with the violence and attitude of Game of Thrones meets American Horror Story.
After a season or too - Go the movie franchise route.

@ChiefJudge, I agree if you want to get the full view of Dredd's world you need a series. That being said, the movie was great and so was Karl Urban as Dredd.

I absolutely love this movie, can't understand why it didn't do good in the theatres.

Went to my local wal-mart to pick it up, they hadn't taken it out of the box, so I opened it myself and got my blu-ray copy.

You've been judged!

LOVED IT. I never once expected anything meticulous (sp?) or elaborate, and got a very entertaining movie... NOT ALL MOVIES HAVE TO BE MASTERMINDED!! Good fun, awesome action, hate myself for not going to see it in theaters (no sequel would make me sad :[). 4 of 5 stars

I liked Dredd but lets face facts, it was not original at all. It was Die Hard meets The Warriors starring Judge Dredd. I bought it and enjoyed it but not any more than I enjoyed the first one. I also agree it deserves a tv series but maybe it should be animated, with 2d animation, Heavy Metal style.

I got it from Redbox today(Our goofy ass Walmart didn't have it in today) and it's a GREAT action movie! I wish I saw it in 3D when it was in the movies.

I thought the movie needed a little bit of tweaking but I love the Eastwood like mannerisms of the good judge. Some witty 1-liners. I've read a few JD comics and this movie how I would picture it. (I'm one of the few who actually saw it at the theater and would go see a sequel if they made one.)

Just watched it for the first time. This movie got screwed. I don't know who was in charge of marketing this film but they should not only be fired, they should be executed. I thought it was an awesome movie. I can't believe it bombed. I would absolutely put it up there as one of the best cbm's made. I'm so surprised by how poorly it did that I'm forced to question my own taste as to whether I may be completely out of touch because I really don't see anything that I would point out as being wrong with it. The cinematography was top notch, in my non-professional opinion. The slo-mo effects were original and very vivid to the effect of making something that should be ugly look beautiful. Admitted, we all know this was never going to be an oscar contender, but man...this movie kicked ass. I'm pissed that it didn't do well.

Loved it, hoping dvd/blu-ray sales rocket so we can hopefully get another one. Urban nailed it. Really no bad acting in the movie, i never had a "Oh god" moment with somebody's acting. Good ol' action flick.

Saw it twice in theatres( once in 2D and once in 3D). Bought the last Bluray at BestBuy around 6:30 in Northridge and their were only about 6 DVDs left so that's a good sign. Stallones version was utter garbage while this film managed to be my best of 2012.
I can totally get behind the idea of a tv series made with the same creative team and the guy who compared it to Galactica is spot on. Love for a sequel but I fear it will not happen. At least we got this.

This was definitely better than the Stallone version....but that was crap, so that isn't saying anything.

I don't understand the love for this movie I see here. It was entertaining, but nothing spectacular. I can only assume that it is people who were already Dredd fans and hoping for a decent movie adaptation. If you aren't a fan of the comic, this movie was pretty empty, mindless action. That it takes place in Megacity with judges is hardly important; the same movie could be made in a completely different setting and the movie would be about the same.

There is no character depth, no one is sympathetic, it's just mindless violence in the vein of old Schwarzenegger action flicks. Or it's more like an old Stallone action movie than Stallone's version of Dredd was. :)

This was one the best CBM ever. I think it was far better than The Dark Knight Rises. Everything about this movie was great, the plot, sets, acting, special effects, script and directing.

I can't tell you how many of my friends who did see it went in with very low expectations and came out loving it.

I hope people will rent this and see what they missed.

Montrovant- Never read a single issue. Saw the Stallone version and get the idea though. Your argument does not hold water with me.

Got my copy, man this is the best set of special features on dvd in a while most of which is only on blu-ray. Anyways this is my favorite movie of 2012 this is going on my shelf right next to The Fifth Element.
