Batman-on-Film have set up a separate site, JusticeLeague-on-Film, and they have word from an "industry insider" regarding the casting problems being faced by Warner Bros. and helmsman George Miller in casting the caped crusader.
Apparently it seems that no one wants to tread on the toes of Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan, the actor/director pair behind the hugely successful relaunch of the new Batman movies. "That’s a big problem for Miller and Warners because you have a character with its own franchise and it’s successful -- and everyone loves what Bale is doing as Batman. I mean, Bale IS Batman. Do you think someone like a Jake Gyllenhaal wants to try to compete with Bale?"
Indeed, that is something that a lot of people, myself included, have commented on. It has always seemed backward logic to me that Warner Bros. would want to set up a separate Batman, away from the monumental success that Bale and Nolan are acquiring.
On-Film’s insider continued saying, "Now, an unknown would take it [the part of Batman in JL] in a second, but then you are dealing with exactly that -- an unknown. See, there’s no ‘juice’ if they go that route. It‘s a tough situation, no doubt."
Now while there are some advocating an entirely CG film, I wish to propose that WB make use of the fact that the screenwriters are looking to put the kibosh on JL, and halt production long enough for the Batman movies to finish, so that you can use Christian Bale as your Justice League Batman. I know that some people would prefer the movie to be out sooner rather than later – WB’s bankers probably first among them – but to do something right, and to make the JL flick the epic movie it could be, you might just have to hold off for a little while.
