JUSTICE LEAGUE Director Zack Snyder Is Finishing The Movie For Free; Won't Comment On Possible Reshoots

While we know that Zack Snyder has no plans to use any footage shot by Joss Whedon, the filmmaker played coy when asked if he'll be given the opportunity to film any additional scenes for Justice League...

During his "Justice Con" panel on Saturday, Justice League director Zack Snyder shared lots of exciting new details about the "Snyder Cut." However, perhaps one of the most surprising was the fact that despite spending the past couple of months working on finishing his version (with many more months to come, no doubt), Snyder is doing this for free.

"It's exciting to get this chance, and I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth and I love working on it and I'd do it for free - and I am," Snyder confirmed during a Q&A with fans at the event.

With WarnerMedia happy to spend upwards of $30 million to get Justice League finished for HBO Max, Snyder could have very easily secured himself a decent pay day, but clearly felt it was more important to get this done for the fans and share his vision for these heroes with the world.

As you might expect, Snyder was forced to play coy on a number of topics, including possible appearances from characters like Martian Manhunter and Green Lantern. However, when he was asked specifically about whether he has plans for additional photography once COVID-19 dies down, Snyder responded that he couldn't say...even if he knows the answer!

We know that ADR is planned, and it's hard to imagine that at least some minor reshoots won't be required. Whether that's something WarnerMedia will be happy to move forward with is unclear.

What do you guys think?

Big respect to Zack. This film obviously means a lot to him. I'm definitely looking forward to it

@Deodorant - The vfx and editing cost so much he prob had no choice. there's prob some legal reasons for it too because he already got paid the 1st time and if he was paid again the PGA, SAG, & WGA will be all over Warner Bros

On Joss Whedon
You know what, if Fisher says whay actually did happen on the set of Justice League and others back him up, okay. I will not argue with anyone trying to cancel Joss, even if I don't agree with it (depending on how bad it was). It is possible he crossed a line and if he did then he should be held accountable. His TV show casts have a high opinion of him though, so he cant be that bad.
Either way, id say Joss will be fine. Buffy, Angel, Firefly and Dollhouse are only getting more popular, which he will continue to make money off. Look on youtube, a lot of people have started reacting to it and are loving it. He has comic books, merchendise. He has left his mark on pop culture and his legacy is one thing they cant take away.
He was the first in his family to have their own show, his grandfather and father had worked on the Andy Griffith Show and Golden Girls.
He popularized the season long arc and the Big Bad, seriously look at any genre show, most of the time, they use Whedon''s formula.
He popularized the musical episode, seriously after Once More With Feeling, what show didn't do a musical episode

He showed the first lesbain relationship on a major network

He opened the door for other female led genre shows, seriously there were so many Buffy rip offs.
He self produced multiple projects like Dr.Horrible Sing Along Blog and Much To Do About Nothing, hell if he cant work in hollywood, I wont be surprised if he goes independant. Worked for Orson Wells

He convinced a film studio to let him make a movie based on a show that was cancelled after only a few episodes

He gave a lot of writers their start and they have gone on to create their own groundbreakers.
Hell he started the trend of post show continuations in comic form, literally all his shows have had them.
Also fun fact, Buffy was the inspiration for the revival of Doctor Who.
Whatever happens, he can take pride in that and more. Doubt he will have much problems with money, with all that he has out there.
People say he is an egomaniac , but his ego is probably what made a lot of this stuff possible and what made his shows so groundbreaking. He fought for what he wanted and pushed for quality. If he gets cancelled, there is still Jed Whedon to keep the legacy going also Zack Whedon. They aren't joss, but they have some good stuff.

@dracula - Did you just compare Joss Whedon to Orsen Welles, lmfao. No need to simp this hard on an article that doesn’t even have anything to do with Whedon, my guy

No matter what happens, it wont effect my enjoyment of the guys work.
Like lets face it, if all he did was yell at people, there are MUCH worst people in hollywood, and people still enjoy their stuff. Hell Roman Palanski won an oscar for Pianist, its a great movie, but the guy is a pedophile

@tmp3 - I am not comparing him to Orson Well in terms of quality, I am comparing him to Orson Wells in terms of their ability to independently make a movie. Joss has done it on two occasions, with Doctor Horrible and Much To Do About Nothing, Orson spent his later years mostly doing work independently. That is as far as I would ever go in comparing them.

@dracula - Joss WILL be fine. The worst thing to be revealed from him is that he's a cheating asshole by his ex wife. That's it.

This man came back to finish a film he never would’ve thought to see the light of day and he’s doing it for free, to please all his fans. Forget about the characters he’s ruined, how can you hate this guy?

@Robby - Just because you dislike Snyder's work doesn't mean you are somehow obliged to hate him.

@johnnymarr - Seems like you’re one of the few tbh. Every time I open a Snyder related article people are just shitting on him relentlessly just because of a couple movies

@dracula - I’ve seen tons and tons of comments that sadly showcase the opposite of people not hating him. It’s one thing to dislike his take on something but he seems to be the most hated director at least on this site.

@BobbyW - When it comes to comments directed at him personally, most of what ive seen is comments of annoyance at his attitude and his constant bringing up of the snyder cut for 2 years
