After the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League, it's highly unlikely the filmmaker will get the opportunity to revisit the DC Extended Universe. There has been chatter that he might team up with artist Jim Lee for a comic book sequel to the movie, but we've not heard anything concrete about that becoming a reality.
However, during a recent interview with YouTube channel SnyderCutBR, Snyder revealed that he pitched a comic book miniseries to DC Comics which would have revealed how The Joker killed Robin prior to the events of 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
"You know, we talked about doing a, I guess it would be DC, they decided not to do it. But we did talk about doing a mini-kind of comic book run on the death of Robin, right? And what happened? How Joker killed Robin and what it did to Batman and started him down this dark, darker road that ended, kind of culminated, with the arrival of Superman"
Snyder didn't clarify when the publisher turned down this idea, but if it was prior to the "Snyder Cut" becoming a reality, then this might just be a result of Warner Bros. wanting to move on from his vision for these characters. If it's a little more recent, then we're definitely struggling to understand why DC Comics wouldn't capitalise on the filmmaker's popularity with a high-profile tie-in!
This would have been a great way to flesh out the history between Batman and The Joker before their reunion in Zack Snyder's Justice League, so here's hoping it does happen down the line.
Would you guys be interested in picking up a miniseries telling this story?
