RUMOR: Warner Bros. Developing World's Finest Superman/Batman Team-Up Movie!

According to questionable sources, Warner Bros. are silently developing a "Worlds Finest" movie, teaming up DC's man of steel and caped crusader. Make the jump and check it out!

Sources of the questionable ThinkMcFlyThink site are now claiming that Warner Bros. are quietly developing a "Worlds Finest" film teaming up Superman and Batman. And while the site further claims a Justice League film is lifting off the ground, the site says:

Sources tell TMT WB is keen on getting a Justice League movie going and still high on The Flash despite Green Lantern being neither the critical or commercial success they'd hoped for nor was it embraced by fans. But the studio is also quietly developing a Batman/Superman team-up movie.

Similar to Justice League, the Brothers Warner has wanted to get their two biggest superheroes on the same screen together for years. The closest it came to fruition was Batman vs. Superman with Wolfgang Peterson-directing from a script by Andrew Kevin Walker. That fell apart as we all know, but executives loved that script.

On the subject of whether the actors currently filling the roles, Christian Bale and Henry Cavill, would return, the site adds:

In a classic case of covering your ass, what we're hearing is two separate incarnations are being tooled. One version where the World's Greatest Detective is firmly established and helps mentor an up-and-coming, fresh-faced Supes and vice versa. Essentially, they're hoping they can woo Christian Bale back into the cape-and-cowl for a fourth time and in case the Oscar-winner tells them, "No thanks, I'm done!", they'll go for a new actor altogether. Both versions would feature Henry Cavill's Last Son of Krypton.

Are these plans definite? No, as we mentioned earlier WB, by their own admission, is back into the Justice League mind-set in addition to The Flash, another iteration of Batman, a hypothetical The Man of Steel sequel (Of course, that depends on how the first movie does plus any outcome to the Shuster/Siegel court-cases), etc.

Again, theres no telling whether this is true. However, do think it's possible past rumors of WB developing the Justice League film WITHOUT Superman and Batman be because of World's Finest?

Yes, Maybe they can get the act together, and we can have a actual DC universe on the big screen for once. I like the idea but I highly doubt that Christian is going to return without Christopher Nolan.

I hope this is true, it'd definitely help in restoring my faith in WB.

And they better make sure the script is solid.

Oh yeah, and [frick] Bale, I don't want him back.

Henry cavill and Christian bale in a superman and batman movie might make me explode due to the overwhelming amount of hottness

Damn. I was literally talking about this at work. The two most popular comic book icons in one movie would be epic and on almost on par with The Avengers. But if DC wanted to get a cinematic universe and lead to a JL movie this would be the perfect way. Like I said they dont have to do what MARVEL is doing. They can introduce the characters in a Justice League movie or at the end of a Worlds Finest film. And then branch out to other movies from there.

I'm stoked for the Flash film! I think The Flash will be next movie for DC after Man Of Steel and I think that even though Green Lantern was not the blockbuster that everyone was wishing for that it will even get a sequel but I just don't see World's Finest ever getting of the ground.....for that too happen Justice League would have to be a success and they would have to have an actor in place as Batman that the fans love and I just don't see Bale sticking around after Dark Knight Rises. :(

this has a better chance than a justice league movie happening since they have no other characters making money for them

hmmm... interesting... it would be nice... but no to bale he belongs in Nolan's Batman world and no where else... a new batman would be good... then after the world's finest you might could do a flash WW, and a new GL then on to a JLA...

well a guy can hope can't he? lol

doubt any of this will happen oh well... :(

Marvel say's your welcome DC ;) If it weren't for their success with the shared MCU leading up to the Avengers they would never have had the balls to make a GL film much less talk about a world's finest or JL.

I think this is actually highly probable. Not only is this the best way to lead up to a JL movie, it will bring in the money WB will need to support other solo films. They can even do a sequel to World's Finest by adding Wonder Woman and they would be able to make a Big 3 advertised movie. That would rake in money like no tomorrow. Everyone knows that together they are an unstoppable force, obviously more famous than The Avengers.

This was also teased in the first advertised pic of TDKR with the buildings put together in a way to make the bat symbol, where on the left it shows the debris obviously creating the Superman \S/. It is so obvious it is impossible to deny it. Was Nolan hinting this in that poster. I say he was.

I really don't want Bale back. I am really excited that this will be his final Batman movie and we will finally get a new actor. My fear is that knowing WB, they will obviously get Nolan to somehow be a part of this, and if he is it is almost certain that Bale will be back which equals EPIC FAIL!! We need a younger, sexy Bruce Wayne, not old ass Bale who almost looks like he can be Cavill's father. I say give Armie Hammer the role for Batman!!

I really hope they're able to do this though.

WORLD'S FINEST 2016!?!!

@Coloso If you ask me the comic book movie to really set it off was Rami's Spiderman. That took comic book movies to a another level.

FAKE. After the epic fail that was GL, The lat thing WB would do is keep a movie like THIS a secret... they'd be promoting this thing already.

If they make it, they should tell the team behind GL to STAY THE HELL OUT OF IT

Nolan's Batman is amazing, but it belongs in its own solo universe.
Thank God he said no to linking it to other DC films
It would be horrible if the Critically Acclaimed franchise were connected to GL!
that was a smart move by Nolan.
Nolan isn't against the idea of a JL movie, In fact, he has revealed interest in producing it

& Bale is not even bad as bruce wayne/batman. Most people blame him for the deep voice in tdk when it was really digitally altered.
JULEZ13
JULEZ13 - 8/12/2011, 10:49 PM
@JDUKE25: I thought about those same things. I know Armie would be a good fit since he was cast as Bats in the JL film (which was scratched thank God!). But the whole height thing did bother me a lot. That really sucks that Cavill is only 6"1' which to me is pretty tall, but compared to other actors that is pretty average. I just don't know of any actor in their mid to late 20s right now that would be perfect for the role.

But I am starting to get tired of Bale and the "Nolanverse." I'm still looking forward to TDKR but it's not like I'm dying to see it. I can wait a month to see it after its released I don't have to see it right away. His "realism" or lack there of is getting annoying. If they do make a World's Finest film, I hope WB gets someone else to be in charge. Maybe if MOS is successful then maybe they'll get Snyder to direct that script that they loved so much.

@Coloso- Agreed. I'm not a marvel-fan. But I agree with you. IF this World's Finest film were to pan out ever...I would owe every bit of my gratitude to Marvel.

But also, wtf is with the whole- Batman mentoring Superman stuff?

Look I love Batman and all but Superman was technically the FIRST ever Superhero. If anyone is the mentor, it's Superman.
