While Zack Snyder's
Justice League won't be with us for another eleven months, the next film on the DCEU slate,
Wonder Woman, arrives in June. Not only is it the character's first standalone film, but it will also give audiences some background on Diana's history and how she learns about the human race.
According to Snyder, who is also producing
Wonder Woman, Diana's first foray into our world will show her that
"humanity isn’t always the most kind and awesome thing. It has its moments, but it can be brutal, and her coming to terms with that dichotomy is what we come to learn about her."
Snyder also elaborated that it will be both Diana's journey in her solo film and the impact of Superman's death from
Batman v Superman that will lead to her portrayal in
Justice League as a hero who has fully embraced human nature and the flaws that accompany it.
"And in Justice League, she’s fully evolved into someone who’s embraced mankind, partly through Superman’s sacrifice. She’s like, ‘All right, I’ve got to pick it up.’"
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat.
