It's been ten years in the making, and in a little over a month Marvel Studios will release what promises to be their
biggest movie yet. But what does the arrival of the Mad Titan Thanos mean for the major players in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Major Deaths
Be prepared for at least one major death in
Infinity War. My money is on Captain America to bite the bullet, but why stop there? Thanos means business and I can see more than one hero shuffling off this mortal coil. We all know that Ant Man and The Wasp have their own movie coming out just a few months after
Infinity War, so we can safely assume that they survive. Captain America died after the events of
Civil War in the comics, and Chris Evans' contract is up, so I'm going to put it out there that Cap dies early in film. This is just a thought but the death of Cap will have a far greater effect on the world than Phil Son Of Coul's death had on the Avengers. As well as Steve Roger's death, I can see them killing off a few side characters as well, with Vision, Hawkeye and Black Widow being the prime candidates in my eyes. Loki is also a possibility but he is the god of mischief, and while he may appear to die onscreen, he might just escape like the slippery snake he is.
Infinity Stones
There are six infinity stones in total, each stone has a specific function, these are the Space Stone (Tesseract), the Mind Stone (Loki's sceptor from Avengers, Vision's forehead), the Reality Stone (Aether), the Power Stone (the Orb), the Time Stone (Eye of Agamotto), and last but not least the Soul Stone (location unknown). Thanos is shown to already be in possession of the Power Stone and the Space Stone, as he was shown placing them into his gauntlet in the
Infinity War trailer, but that still leaves four stones for him to find. We know that both the Mind Stone and Time Stone are both located on Earth. Does this mean that Thanos is already in possession of the other four by the time he arrives on our humble little planet?
Future Of The MCU
Regardless of who dies, we all know that the MCU will go on, albeit it will look very different to what we've grown accustomed to. Whatever goes down in
Infinity War could very well be undone in the as yet unnamed sequel. These are exciting times to be - not only a Marvel fan - but a fan of comic book movies in general.
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters worldwide on April 27th, but I live in a country that gets it a day early. I will post my review one week after release. Follow me on Twitter
