Considering how long it's been since we've had any updates on Marvel Studios' plans for Richard Rider, aka Nova, this probably won't come as much of a surprise, but we're hearing that the solo project - whatever form it would have taken - has now been scrapped.
When the Nova news first broke, the trades mentioned that it would likely be a Disney+ series, but a rumor did the rounds shortly after which claimed that it'd actually be a Special Presentation more akin to Werewolf by Night and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
Later reports indicated that the cosmic hero's MCU debut would actually be on the big screen, but whatever the studio had in mind, insider @MyTimeToShineHello believes those plans have now been shelved for the foreseeable future.
The Nova Corps were introduced in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which led to speculation that Richard Rider would eventually find his way into the GOTG franchise.
James Gunn seemed to show little interest in the character when asked about potentially introducing him, but the Nova film - if that is indeed what it was going to be - would likely have spun-out from Thanos decimating most of the Corps in the build-up to Avengers: Infinity War.
Last we heard, Moon Knight scribe Sabir Pirzada had competed a script, so there's a good chance Marvel Studios will revisit Nova down the line.
