Joe Carnahan Reveals That He's Completed Work On The NEMESIS Screenplay

It feels like it's been a very, VERY long time since we last heard anything about Joe Carnahan's planned big screen adaptation of Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's Nemesis, but the writer and director has now taken to Twitter to reveal that the screenplay is finished. Check it out!

As you can see from the Tweet below, Joe Carnahan (The Grey) has confirmed that he and his brother Matthew have now completed work on the Nemesis screenplay. Last year, Mark Millar (who created the comic book series with artist Steve McNiven) revealed that Carnahan will also helm the adaptation and you can read his reaction to the news below. The movie was at one point set to be distributed by 20th Century Fox when the late Tony Scott was attached, and it appears to still be the case. Be sure to stay tuned to CBM for further updates on Nemesis!

Anyone who has watched "The Grey" knows that Joe Carnahan is a great director. I am interested to see what he does with this.

Nemesis was one of the greatest comic books I have ever read, they better do something fantastic with it. I really wish though this happened...

@Bread Millar is always vocal he talks about his movies all the time, he's pushed for Brad Pitt and Liam Neeson for this one a couple of times.

the art was great at least, but I thought Mark Millar would have done better with that concept.

Who do you think should play Nemesis?? It's Joker meets Batman.. Hmmm, I think Michael C. Hall is a little too obvious.

@ Zan..It's an Ok read. To be honest the concept itself is better than the book. What if Batman was a total ass. That's pretty much the premise right there. The art is great. The writing...not so much. Old Man Logan is really the only thing that I've enjoyed of Millar's.

It has to be hard R-rated. It's very violent.
It does seem that cool action films with brutal violence like DREDD & RIDDICK don't do well.
Still need to keep making them...throw the middle finger at the chicken shit general audience.

Hmmmn really glad tony scott didnt get his mitts on this.

Its a great concept, however it really does need to be an adult rated film which is why the fact that its with fox disapoints, hopefully they don't stick it in the same basket as the x men films and their other cbms but instead think of it as the antithis of there horrible child friendly glossy little turd sandwiches (they did ok with first class but singers return is bound to put the sh.it amongst the pigeons).

Ultra Violent
Darkly comical
visually stylised
with an amoral social commentary (in a fight club, american psycho, natural born killers, kick ass to a degree kinda style)

Brad Pitt
has to still be the top choice he'd be great and damn that man needs a great subversive superhero under his belt

altho

Guy Pearce
Viggo Mortensen
Mads Mikkelsen
Micheal Fassbender
Tom Hardy
Christian Bale
Bradley Cooper
Jude Law
Eric Bana
Gerard Butler
Ryan Gosling
Joel edgerton
Charlie hunman
Josh Hartnett
(in about that order I rkn) could do the job. Ten years ago I wouldve said f.uck it, give it to Cage and Scott and let the madness ensue but Pitt (or one of the top 7 actors listed) leading it would be fu.cking great and the perfect tonic for all those middle of the road childrens films us adult CBM fans have to endure.

p.s The Rock and Ryan Gosling in a Tarantino directed or perhaps Rodriguez directed Tarantino written/produced 'Luke Cage and Iron fist' film would be beyond wonderful. Alas our world is in no where near perfect enough for this to happen...F.uck you reality!!!!! F.uck you

Do it before Liam Neeson and Dennis Quaid become too old for the role of Blake Morrow.

It better be a blood bath. The tagline for Nemesis was "Makes Kick Ass look like shit" Well, it better be 10x bloodier...
