Gonna have to disagree there. See, if I'm right, then this is actually directly after the events of A New Hope when Vader has just survived the Death Star explosion, at least if the author of this series is to be believed. He probably made his way to Tatooine, then decided to waltz up to Jabba and demand transport.

So, if he kills two Gamorreans to show his strength, especially in such a strange and even stressful predicament, I think he'd do it. After all, it's not like Vader doesn't just kill people when almost on a whim, anyway. He just uses his Force powers to do it on his own ships instead of with a lightsaber.

*Forgot to write that he must have had to land on Tatooine due to the fact that he's piloting his dinky Tie Fighter.

Um, Vader was a kill-happy loon in the original trilogy. Came out of hyper space a tad early did we admiral? Well, what can we do about that..

I hope that Jabba springs the trapdoor and Vader just remains in place levitating like a boss.

Given the fact that the whole of the EU is discarded, that also means any 'galactic maps' that were drawn up as accessories to it. This is the new EU and as such, I think the Marvel writers can decide to place Tatooine closer to Yavin IV than it would be originally.

Even then, who's to say that Vader wouldn't pilot his ship to Tatooine, anyway? Dathomir is a planet that has native Rancors and no real technology to speak of and Mandalore I really don't think would take kindly to a lone Dark Lord that has been oppressing the planet for almost 20 years. Tatooine, given it's lack of any actual danger that could be posed to him beyond Tusken Raiders or Jabba's criminals, would make for a much easier place to acquire a vessel that could see him make his way back to Coruscant.

That's just speculation, anyway. The point is that it makes better drama.

I see all the bounty hunters from Empire. I wonder if this is a set-up story to how all the bounty hunters end up on Vader's ship.

Well... lucky he didnt set foot on Tatooine before A New Hope or he might have been suspicious about a farmboy named Skywalker with a old hermit named Kenobi living close by...
