Another PROMETHEUS Image Released

i hope this is good

i'm betting prometheus or the hobbit will be film of the year.

It all looks too slick. i liked the "Alien" and "Aliens" films and the guys on that ship were just average people on a commercial ship and because the image reflected the gritty world they were entering. Now these people here go out on some philosophical/scientific quest to find out about the origins of humanity, looking all like models for a perfume commercial. It's also got too much CGI, especially considering the fact that the original film did everything with real sets and real special effects. it's become so easy to just do something on a computer screen that I'm not impressed by that kind of thing anymore. this is a film probably made for people who want to consume a clean, slick product that will not make as much of an impression as the original 1979 film did. Why?because we all know how they're doing it: with CGI. In the original film they were in space, the thing burst out of John Hurt's chest and they did not need any computer effects to do that. This film here looks too clean (=unreal) BECAUSE it's been largely realised with tons of computer effects. If this turns out to be a film about how aliens are responsible for the creation of humanity it's just going to be silly. it looks nice but to a fault because then you immediately go "yep, I've seen this done before, and better, by you Ridley Scott".

anyone else think that there is also the possibility that people just wont go to the cinema anymore on cue just because someone has released a product?
It used to be an event,hell when they repeated james bond movies on the telly,before video,they would promote it for about three months and it was an event!!!!!!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh!

i will definitely be going to see this because i am a sci-fi fan and it gives me an excuse to take my kids into that world,but when i discuss new movies with people they just look at me puzzled because the majority of people only know the blockbusters. no one i know has seen chronicle.

But then I realised that the majority of the filmgoers were in agreement with her!!!!!

@batfan, I fell asleep reading your comment. Its 2012 what the [frick] do you expect them to do NOT use CGI? Maybe its more slick because these are scientists in the first Alien they were on a big cargo ship that maybe wasn't as "tricked out" for lack of a better term. This is a different crew with a different task.

@mothman, another douche ragging on The Avengers on a freaking PROMETHEUS article. Can't people like both movies? I do.
"Ghost Rider, Underworld, John Carter, Avengers = 'meh' LOL out of all those suck ass movies you put 'meh' next to Avengers.

@AsgardianGangsta: just because you can use CGI does not mean you have to. Look at the Evil Dead: no CGI whatsoever and it still holds up. You need to smack people like George Lucas and Ridley Scott on the head and tell them "if you can't do it without your computer you probably should not attempt to re-enter a world you created 30 years ago with practical special effects". Those old movies are the ones people remember because there was something tangible there. This looks like a soulless machine of a film that exists only because there's money to be made. I also don't believe that all people going on this mission have to look as pretty and bland as people in a Dior commercial.
