A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is being directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), from a screenplay written by Mark Bomback, Scott Z. Burns, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The cast includes: Andy Serkis (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Public Enemies, The Great Gatsby), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Harry Potter film series), Keri Russell (The Americans, Mission Impossible III), Toby Kebbell (The Prince of Persia, Wrath of the Titans, Rock N Rolla), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, ParaNorman), Enrique Murciano (Traffic, Black Hawk Down), Kirk Acevedo (The Thin Red Line) and Judy Greer (The Descendants, Three Kings, 13 Going on 30). The film climbs into theaters July 11, 2014

What I don't understand is, this is all kind of leading to the original film, but just because they are smart, why would their bodies change, shorter arms, longer legs and become taller than a human, I watched Rise tonight, and at some point ceasar is smaller than franko, later in the film he stands up and is as tall as him, I love these films, thats the only thing I can't get my head around, because I would like to see them evolve more in future movies, and I thought most of them would be talking to each other through voice and not through sign in this film, but..small gripes

The way i look at it is you just gotta except that it was the 60s and they tried thier best making them look like apes. OR they eventually kinda "redo" the original in this format

@ManofSteel22

Apes grown till about 5'6. James Franco is 5'11. The effect of the virus could possibly mutate the apes even further to where their bones are stronger and enhance speech.

The thing is Caesar is the only one that was around a human long enough to learn words. James Franco's character was teaching him words but not as much as he taught him sign language, which he was using throughout all of Rise and Dawn. He only spoke twice in Dawn but probably couldn't say much. The entire Ape civilization hadn't seen humans for 10 or 11 years (can't remember). They would really have to rely on Caesar teaching them only a few words that he knew as you could tell he still was speaking in broken sentences. And a lot of the apes could only say a few words.

@manofsteel this is a reboot not a prequel. Could it work for the 60s version? Maybe but it isn't meant to.

@ManofSteel22

It is leading to a REBOOT of the original. It is not in the same continuity as the original series for obvious reasons.
