When footage from Luc Besson's Valerian and The City of A Thousand Planets screened at SDCC earlier this year, it was met with a standing ovation - so fans have been looking forward to the first official trailer, which is set to debut this Thursday.

In anticipation of that, EuropaCorp has released a brief teaser for the sci-fi flick, along with a couple of posters featuring the main cast members: Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne.

Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are special operatives for the government of the human territories charged with maintaining order throughout the universe. Valerian has more in mind than a professional relationship with his partner- blatantly chasing after her with propositions of romance. But his extensive history with women, and her traditional values, drive Laureline to continuously rebuff him.

Under directive from their Commander (Clive Owen), Valerian and Laureline embark on a mission to the breathtaking intergalactic city of Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis comprised of thousands of different species from all four corners of the universe. Alpha’s seventeen million inhabitants have converged over time- uniting their talents, technology and resources for the betterment of all. Unfortunately, not everyone on Alpha shares in these same objectives; in fact, unseen forces are at work, placing our race in great danger.

Valerian also stars John Goodman, Ethan Hawke, Clive Owen, Rutger Hauer and Rihanna, and is set to hit theaters on July 21, 2017.

Only saw Lucy recently, thinking it might not be as bad as people said, but kind of ended up being worse.

Despite TASM2 I like Dane DeHaan so I hope this is a hit. Heard that the footage they showed at comic-con was amazing. Not a big fan of dancing witch lady though...

@Bokis -

Why does Dane look so feminine in all of the pictures?

I would go see this movie opening day if they say "From the studio that brought you Nine Lives".

Reasons for me to watch this:

Luc Besson made Leon and The 5th Element, and also produced Taken and Lockout (which I love).

Cara Delevingne, I think she's pretty and thought she wasn't that bad in Suicide squad.

The main question is will this film have a laser/portal being fired into the sky?

Also just seen who else is starring in this:

Valerian also stars John Goodman, Ethan Hawke, Clive Owen, Rutger Hauer and Rihanna.

That is a awesome cast.

Earlier this tear? Someone edit this. Also loose the "of that" and just say in anticipation, it flows better.
