Max Cloud is a video-game inspired film that released on Digital this past Friday. The movie follows a young gamer as she gets teleported into the game, though not as the hero, but the side character.
Plenty of Comic Book Movie fans will love the cast, with Doctor Strange's Scott Adkins, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s John Hannah, Captain Marvel's Lashana Lynch, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's Tommy Flanagan, and even Franz Drameh from Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and the rest of the Arrowverse shows.
We've recently been doing our rounds with the cast to promote the movie's launch and have already shared our chats with a couple of the actors, with several more to come. When speaking exclusively with director Martin Owen (Twist) about the film, he told us about the character's self-discovery journey.
"The influence of comic books on the film has the key protagonist who has a really clear and defined identity, but at the same hand has a journey of self-discovery, like Superman, Batman, and all of the classic icons. And what was funny about this was like it's set inside a video game where Max is doing the same thing repeatedly every time someone plays; it's the same thing in the same way. And he enjoys it. But then, in the narrative of the film, at the point where he'd normally start over, the story keeps going.
So everything for Max in the movie is new; he's discovering it for the first time. And it's that question of, does he question, is he a real person? Is he being controlled by somebody else? All that sort of stuff. I love the fact that he starts to realize that "people like me because, because I'm the hero, but I'm actually a little bit of a dick because I'm not very nice to everybody else." And that's something I think is quite relatable for a lot of us, to be honest in life in general."

To escape, she must finish the game with a little help from her not-so-savvy friend on the outside...or remain a 16-bit character forever.
