Apparently the movie should have been titled "M.U.T.O."(Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism) as opposed to "Godzilla".

@Kinghulk Not bad. Just really really disappointing. 6.5/10 for me. It's worth a viewing, but that's it, just a viewing.

Godzilla had little screen time (in comparison to MUTO), expected more tbh. The overall story was nice but it felt a bit short in terms of content (like there's not that much going on, felt dragged out). A lot of people/friends werent really happy with how they portrayed Godzilla but that'd enter spoiler territory if I talked about that lol, I liked it though and I'm not sure if the people who hated Godzillas portrayal even understood his portrayal fully.

good movie. Just like the first movie but with some of the fights of the other stupid (but entertaining) Godzilla movies.

I thought it was awesome! Sure Godzilla could have been shown a lot more but that's what made each appearance of him more wow! Even the human story is pretty good! entertaining flick but don't expect to see Godzilla everywhere because youall be disappointed lol. A sequel with Mecha Godzilla would be the business though

His screen time was probably more than the original film which they took inspiration from. I was more than happy with the film. When Gareth Edwards says he took inspiration from the original film I knew not to expect a film like some of the sequels where Godzilla was in it for longer. If theirs a sequel he'll probably be in it for longer.

@mrcbm56 what were you watching? Yes this movie didnt have an hour of Godzilla scenes but look at the overall movie. It was beautiful, had great visuals, the soundtrack was amazing, and the last 30 minutes gave me the biggest nerdgasm ever. You shouldnt judge this movie solely off of how much screentime Godzilla has, the wait was definitely worth it.
@kinghulk what reviews did you read? it has like a 80% on rotten tomatoes and an 8.0 on imdb. those are good numbers.

@nailbiter111

Well...dang.

I guess I'll just try to lower my expectations but to be honest after all the reviews I got the feeling that it's going to just be acceptably decent.

People say ATJ was really bad in this. I heard he was just so wooden and the focus shift from Cranston to him really brought the film down a notch.

They said that when he acting next to Cranston, it made Cranston appear to be overacting by comparison because ATJ was so lifeless.

Is this true?

I can't wait for everyone hear to complain that there wasnt enough godzilla had had too much human focus

Shows how many people haven't really watched any Godzilla film

@Darthzilla

I don't mind if Godzilla isn't in it throughout as long as what's there is good and when he does show up it's amazing.

You're right though, Godzilla movies were never 2hours of him trashing a city and fighting monsters.

@Humperdink: Cranstons acting felt forced at times but it was one of the highlights of the movie.

Godzilla was phenomenal if you ask me, but in a month where Godzilla is competing with Superhero movies, I naturally expect a lot of bias to be found on a comic book movie website.

It was easily one of the best kaiju films of all time, and I am a die-hard fan of the genre. It was about 10 times better than The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and I even preferred it to Captain America: The Winter Soldier(Which I loved).

I liked taking the Jaws/Jurassic Park approach. The slow burn in the first half makes all of those great, iconic moments and sequences later on all the more powerful. You can't just blow the load right off the bat like a Michael Bay film(and even Pacific Rim suffered from that a tad)

The film properly established characters with their own lives and familial drama while slowly building the tension and working towards the monster action.

Loved the movie. I think it was a good idea hding big G back a bit like Jaws. As only a Godzilla movie I could see how you could be disappointed with the lack of fights but it feels like the beging of a new franchise and as that it's perfect IMO.

I'm going to catch at 7:00, I heard it's good but Godzilla isn't in it much

The film is not perfect, and I can see how some people could have issues with the pacing, or just HOW developed certain characters get to be.

But those reviews saying there are terrible performances, or wooden characters...they are crazy. The film is very well balanced between the monster action and the human action/drama and all of the performances are more than solid.

Btw I hate almost every design but I love the film version. Could use less flat feet but still great

Is it just me or does the bottom left design resemble the Lizard from The Amazing Spider-man?
