Netflix has reportedly partnered with Penguin Random House for a worldwide deal to publish a series of books that will expand upon the insanely popular original series
Stranger Things.
Deadline reports the first two titles will release this fall. One will be a behind-the-scenes companion book titled
Stranger Things: World Turned Upside Down: The Official Behind-The-Scenes Companion. You can probably expect to see concept art, behind-the-scenes photos, and read about all sorts of fascinating facts from the set of the sci-fi show. The second book coming this fall is an as-yet-untitled hardcover gift book for young readers that will offer "advice, wisdom, and warnings from the
Stranger Things world, according to the publisher.
Following those two books, a
Stranger Things prequel novel about Eleven's mother and the MKUltra program will be released next spring. It's being written by author Gwenda Bond. Fans were briefly introduced to Eleven's mom in season two of the show. It's unclear how much further the show will expand upon the character in season three now that a novel is planned. Additional titles for both adults and young readers are planned for "later" in 2019.
In April, Netflix announced the start of production on
Stranger Things season 3. Not much is known about the upcoming season except that it
will feature a time hop from season 2 and pick up in 1985.
Stranger Things season 3 is expected to premiere sometime in 2019.
