Warning: SPOILERS AHEAD!

The season finale of "Agent Carter" aired last night, and in the closing moments of the episode, it is revealed that the detained Johann Fennhoff, AKA Dr. Faustus, will be sharing his cell with the infamous Arnim Zola, who as we know, goes on to plant the seeds of Hydra into S.H.I.E.L.D that leads to the organization's downfall.

In an interview with EW, "First Avenger" and "Winter Soldier" writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely talked about the significance of the finale, as well as the narrative possibilties for future seasons.

On Zola's appearance: We’ve wanted Toby Jones to appear since we pitched this show. We did not know exactly where it would happen or where he was on his timeline, but we always wanted to show you how Hydra started it’s [reach within S.H.I.E.L.D.]

On the connection to the Winter Soldier program: It’s a bit of a convoluted timeline in that in the first Captain America, Zola was captured in the same mission where Bucky fell off the train. Theoretically, a division of Hydra—possibly a Russian division of Hydra—went and got the body while Zola was in custody. Zola had already done something to Bucky, and experimented on him that made him beyond human, which allowed him to survive the fall and make him worth doing the research on. They kept him in stasis until Zola was able to have a little bit of freedom from the American government, at which point he maybe brought his new friend Johann Fennhoff to handle the mind control part of the Winter Soldier project.

On possible future seasons: When we were figuring out the show and the backstory of the show, we had a really nice story about who Peggy is and where she came from. We just didn’t have any time. I would love to tell that story. That’s one of our strongest ideas for the second season: What makes Peggy, Peggy? We like what Peggy is, but if you ask some hard questions, you might wonder: but why is she that way? We have some thoughts on that.

Why couldn't AOS have been this good? Even now, it's not as good as Agent Carter

Carter was a great series...though I disagree with Funky Bunch up there, think AoS is a very strong show as well...liked them both, for different reasons, couple big, voluptuous ones in the case of Carter...

@antoineflemming - yeah, it's is kinda ignorant...again.

Can you imagine the pitch for the studio? It probably went like this:
Writers: - Ok, we will have Russian evil guys on the show, because its fresh and original. One of the guys name will be Johann Fennhoff.

Studio: (Silent for a moment) - Ok, sounds authentic. Russian also should be Nazis..,you know...because its authentic.

Think the 8 eps was perfect, wouldn't mind another season of the same...

I loved this show. It was good. Great even. However, I don't see why it needs a follow up. Seems unnecessary.

Absolutely love this show. Bought the season immediately after the scene when Peggy Carter seduced Spider Raymond. Hope we get more seasons!

The show was very good. Haley is a delight.
The blood of Cap was kinda silly really. I mean during battle Cap gets a bit bloody sometimes.
I imagine getting a sample of his blood wouldn't be that hard & would it really be that easy to use it to make more super soldier serum?...I doubt it.
It's all make believe so anything is possible.

Season 2:

Agent Carter and the Liberty Legion.

I love the Golden Age MCU stuff, but it's time to widen the lens a bit.
