Harrison Ford On Revisiting Characters & Mending Bridges With George Lucas

We still don't know if Ford has officially signed on for Star Wars Episode VII yet, and in an interview with MTV the 70 year old actor is still keeping schtum. But he does comment on possibly returning to the role of Han Solo AND another couple of iconic characters he's played..

While we await an official announcement regarding Harrison Ford and the rest of the original Star Wars cast's return to the franchise, interviewers will continue to try to prize it out of them. Well MTV go for a slightly different approach while speaking to Ford, as Han Solo isn't the only character he is rumored to be revisiting. When asked about possible returns as not only Solo and Indiana Jones but Deckard from Ridley Scott's planned Blade Runner sequel, the actor doesn't rule anything out. "It might be nice, depending on the circumstances, to revisit any one of those characters. What interests me now is the opportunity to work at all and to work in ambitious projects. I can't think that way," said Ford. "What I'm looking for is the next opportunity, the next ambitious opportunity. It doesn't matter if it's one of those. If it's one of those, great. If it's not, that's fine too." Ford has been pretty vocal in the past about George Lucas and his inability to write convincing dialog. He's also criticized some of the decisions made with the last movie in the original Star Wars trilogy, Return Of The Jedi. So if he is indeed planning on rejoining the Lucasfilm family under Disney, is he worried about butting heads? "I might have said things in the past that were characterizations of how I felt at the time," he said. "That was then. This is now. It doesn't matter."

Hopefully he's not returning cause
A) He feels like he has to. Like if he doesn't fans will flip, or if the film is delayed they'll say it was cause the script had to be rewritten because he wouldn't sign on
B) Just another job/paycheck
C) "I just need to be in another blockbuster"

I hope he's returning cause he actually WANTS to.

i dont thnk bringing the original characters back is a good idea
Its certainly exciting to be able to see them again but i think original characters would be best a whole new story

Sadly. I don't really want the original characters, because they're so perfect how they were in that trilogy. No need to change them or add anything. I hope they are only cameos, or at least, small supporting roles. Like, an introduction scene, and later on, Han Solo arrives, bust the protagonist out of a tight spot with his blaster, says some smartass line, and brings him back home.

There's really nothing to 'mend.' The script issue was superficial and partly tongue-in-cheek; not the type of thing that caused any ill will beetween them at all. Ford and Lucas have been pretty close friends for decades

He always said he wanted George to kill Solo in ROTJ to give the character more weight. He basically wanted the movie to be more about Solo when it was supposed to be about Luke.

Oh god Han is going to get shot trying to scramble up the Falcon's loading ramp and will die there at the bottom of the ramp after handing the keys to Shia le boof and saying: "Here Kid!, take care of her!" - and i will go "Arrrrgh!" and run screaming from the theatre

If not for Han Solo, Ford might be working at Home Depot. Big dept here.....biiiiig dept. I thought the original Star Wars was flawless in every way. I thought the rest were a slow roll downhill.

Because back then he had a lot of help from friends his his wife not to mention taking whole chunks of ideas from other movies written by better writers. 20 years later, Star Wars is mind blowingly successful and fan boys believing the credits attribute it all to Lucas and he comes to think, Hey, I am Star Wars, I don't need no stinking help writing this new trilogy, I got this all by my self."

Just to nitpick... it is usually "burning bridges" and "mending fences." "Mending bridges" is kind of like saying "piece of pie" instead of "cake."

Love Lucas, the guy is an outstanding filmmaker. I think the original Star Wars trilogy is a masterpiece and the prequels,while flawed, are highly entertaining. Harrison Ford, on the other hand, has played roles so iconic that he´s been elevated to the ultimate action hero. A collaboration between them has, and always will, result in great things (yes, I did consider Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull to be a good movie despite a lot of unjustified hate).
