With Disney working on Avengers: Age of Ultron, Sony working on The Sinister Six, Fox working on X-Men and Fantastic Four, and Warner Brothers working on Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, we have a lot of large-scale superhero flicks coming, but how many independent superhero films do we have? Well, now young high school student, William Martinko, is working on his.  He just released the theatrical trailer for his film, The Distinguished, a few hours ago. It stars Sam McLaughlin, Clare Heller, Aidan Everly, Michael Almeida, and Marusia Griffin Lynn.

The plot goes a little something like this:

"After convincing his overbearing mother to send him to high school, David tries to fit in with the normal world, but he is not normal at all. He has telekinetic powers that allow him to levitate objects, read people's minds, and defy gravity. He begins to meet new people including a girl named Amy who feels as if there's something different from him. He also encounters a football player named Toby who wants David out of the equation. While he tries to fit in, he starts to learn about his powers, how far he can go with them, and how he got them, but accidents begin to occur."

Check out the film when it hits the web on April 10, 2015!

Sounds super cliched, not big production line studio cliched, but indie film cliched.

I hope you do a good job, but please don't speak of yourself and your works in the 3rd person to deceive us into thinking you aren't plugging your own work.

Also, considering this is your work this is required to be categorized under the "Features" section, and not "News".

Terrible lead actor. Horrible acting all around. Lame, cliched story. What you need to ask yourself is why anyone would actually watch this.

If you want to make something, do something to make it stand out. I don't mean to be harsh. I've worked in film and more importantly made money in film. I've been on the big sets, and I'm not talking about a small role. If you want to do something, do something special. If you have the passion and real talent, you don't need money.

It's also not respectable to call the cast "unkown talent" right off the bat. That is for the viewers to decide (and we aren't too impressed). If you want anyone to care about this project you need to do something unique, but every aspect of this trailer is cliched and has elements stripped from much better films, let you limit yourself by expecting big things with minimal effort. You have to give yourself a reason to make the film before assuming anybody else will care.
