Dino Supervisor Phil Tippett Teases "Big" JURASSIC WORLD Presence At Comic-Con

With Jurassic World releasing next summer, it was expected that something from the film would be shown at SDCC this year, probably some footage & a glimpse at a dino or two, but Dinosaur Supervisor Phil Tippett is teasing that we might be getting something a little bigger.. Come check out!

He only had one job! The man indirectly responsible for the violent dinosaur rampage at Jurassic Park in 1993, dinosaur supervisor Phil Tippett, better known for his Academy Award winning VFX work on classics like Jurassic Park, Star Wars Robocop, and soon for Jurassic World, let out a tweet earlier today teasing a possible Comic-Con appearance by an old friend. Check out his tweet below:

Now, what this means is anyone's guess. At 8 feet, a T-Rex display isn't likely, but another famous Jurassic Park dinosaur could fit the bill, the menacing Velociraptor. The raptors used in the film were approximately 6-8 feet, which is considerably larger than what its real-life counterpart would've been, but it does fit what he says above. In case you didn't know, the original raptors were essentially men in well-designed Raptor suits. Check out the video below to look at their process in constructing the raptors:

So what do you guys think, could we be getting a Raptor display? Or even better, could they be bringing a Raptor to life? How exciting would that be? Sound off with your thoughts below!

I doubt any sequel will capture the feel of the original that made it work so well.

So long as there isn't such a heavy reliance on CGI, like say... 95% of movies today. This film will have a chance at not seeming like a cheap cash-in

It's definitely a raptor though. Can't wait to see what surprises they tease and SDCC.

I agree Klone, but I think Jurassic World has a much better chance of recapturing the essence and spirit of the original (my all-time favorite movie) than either one of the previous sequels managed to do. Honestly, the franchise can only trend up after the awful Jurassic Park III. Jurassic World has a great director, an awesome pair of lead actors, and from everything Trevorrow's been saying, I have full confidence he's going to do something special with this.

Is the raptor part machine where it moves on its own, or only with the human inside?

Pretty sure he's bringing the full scale ED-209 prop since he's partnering with Chronicle Collectibles and releasing screen accurate reproductions of puppet scale props from some of his work based off the original molds, including ED and the Cain robot. He peddled some of that at WonderFest recently.

No feathers. And honestly, that kind of makes sense. Not only does it keep the continuity between all 3 films so far, but it actually makes perfect sense with one of the major themes in the books and in the first movie. These aren't supposed to be accurate representations of dinosaurs. They're theme park monsters. They created them to look and act as the public expects them to, not how they actually did in real life. Hence why the spliced-together super predator in Jurassic World actually fits in perfectly.

What a legend. This dude gave me a few of my first movie geek-outs. Go-motion in empire and jedi.

Never knew he looked like such a rad old man these days though.
