Charlie Hunnam Not Returning For PACIFIC RIM Sequel

Rumored to be titled Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, the sequel won't be featuring one of the lead actors from the first production. Does that mean Rinko Kikuchi's Mako Mori and the Gypsy Danger are out as well?

At SDCC, Charlie Hunnam spoke to Yahoo! Movies to promote Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, but the former Sons of Anarchy star was also asked whether he'd be joining John Boyega for the follow up to Pacific Rim.  Apparently, we won't be seeing an appearance from Raleigh Beckett even though he saved the day and ended the Kaiju War.  Hunnam's absence also calls into question whether the other lead from the first film, Rinko Kikuchi, will be returning?  With Boyega playing the son of Idris Ebla's Stacker Pentecost, it would stand to reason that an appearance from Stacker's adopted daughter would be warranted.  Plus, fans from the first film will be dying to know whether Mako and Raleigh made it as a couple!
