With Aaron Taylor Johnson starring in Gareth Edward’s first Godzilla film, A.T.J. reveals his status on the Godzilla sequel that is set to hit theaters in 2018! Check it out!
Aaron Taylor Johnson (as you know) has signed on with the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Avengers: Age of Ultron. Once an actor does this, they have endless possibilities and can appear in many films going forward. Example, Robert Downey Jr. signed on for the first Iron Man film, from there he's never looked back. The same thing goes for Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, etc. Now we have Aaron Taylor Johnson who has signed on to play Quicksilver in the MCU! What does this mean for his role in the Godzilla franchise? Well, while talking with Cinema Blend, Aaron Taylor Johnson revealed that him appearing in the Godzilla sequel is up to Gareth Edwards. "Our director, Gareth Edwards, is off shooting a Star Wars movie now, so I think, you know, and he was a huge influence on the franchise. So I think they’re waiting on Gareth, and then when Gareth gets around, they will all jump in a room, brainstorm, and do their thing." He then continues, "I don’t know if I’d be a part of it, if it would be set somewhere else, if it’s going to be in the future. ... It’s just kind of, it’s just so broad."
Along with Aaron Taylor Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen also appeared in Gareth Edward's Godzilla. So, if Taylor-Johnson reprises his role, there's a good chance she will as well. If not, it'll be interesting to see what Gareth Edwards has in store for the Godzilla sequel (which is set to feature King Ghidorah, Rodan, and Mothra)! Would you want to see Aaron Taylor Johnson reprise his role in the film or at least make an appearance? Godzilla 2 is set to release June 8, 2018. Sound off below with your thoughts!
