We all been wondering bout who is Finn (Played by John Boyega) and why he's the new hope for the Star Wars Universe, but Amazon gave a huge spoiler of who he is. If you want to know beware of a pontential spoiler ahead.

Sorta figured as much. So Lando I assume died or was killed at some point after Return since Billy Dee Williams isn't in the movie. That we know of anyway.

Things people need to consider; John Boyega was testing for the part of Finn with WHITE actors(One of the actors was the guy who played Todd from Breaking Bad) as well. That means they considered the part without race in mine, thus likely he's not related to anyone from the original trilogy.

I'm all for Finn being an original character and not related to either of the other two black characters in the Star Wars Universe. lol

@SteveRogers9 then why did JJ say the last names of Rey and Finn have been hidden for a reason??? You're right on the screen testing thing, but maybe that meant that if a white actor was cast, then they'd change the parentage to a white person

Imo, it is obvious Rey will be the Skywalker of the series, and Finn would be a red herring. That said, if any one of the white actors were cast, he'd have hidden their names all the same, only this time people would be speculating he is either Luke's or Han's son.

It's not so much that his last name is being concealed, rather than he doesn't actually have a last name. Finn attempting to carve out a personal identity for himself separate from "Faceless/Nameless soldier of a totalitarian state" is the character's arc through the film, and it's likely one that Abrams wants the audience to fully discover in theaters.

There's also the fact that Boyega, like has been stated above, auditioned for a role alongside white actors. In the leaked concept art of the movie, Finn is exclusively depicted as white. Ridley also auditioned under similar circumstances, I believe, but even if she turns out to be Luke's daughter (as I suspect) there's leeway in there because we haven't seen her mother.
