Following the end of the highly successful Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, many of the original Rangers distanced themselves from the show due to a variety of behind-the-scenes issues. However, thanks in large part to a immense and loving fanbase, many of the original Rangers have returned to the public eye over the past 2-3 years. Several original Rangers, including the original Red Ranger Austin St. John, the original Blue Ranger David Yost, and the original Black Ranger Walter Jones, have begun attending conventions where they are consistently amongst the show's most popular guests. Additionally, with the announcement of a new movie arriving in 2016, the Rangers' popularity has seen a huge uptick in recent months. All five living original Rangers have expressed interest in appearing in some capacity.

Even though she's not a prominent figure on the convention scene, Amy Jo Johnson, who played the original Pink Ranger Kimberly Hart, has contined to act following MMPR making her one of the few Power Ranger alums that continued to do so following their stint on the show. She has appeared in a variety of films and television shows including Felicity, Flashpoint, and Covert Affairs. Johnson is currently working on her directiorial debut, The Space Between, which is being crowdfunded. A few days ago, after successfully funding her project, almost two weeks in advance, she received a challenge from close friend and original Blue Ranger David Yost. She accepted and decided it was time to say "It's Morphin Time" one more time and proceeded to suit up in her full Pink Ranger suit, sans the helmet, and perform a street concert to thank her supporters.
