We all know the Robocop reboot was supposed to come out in 2010 but that never happened because MGM went belly up. Well director Darren Aronofsky still hopes to make it .

Darren Aronofsky told The Playlist that the Robocop reboot "may still happen one day."

The film was being developed at MGM along with The Hobbit and James Bond 23 before the company come into financial problems.

Aronofsky said, "It's MGM, and hopefully they'll clear their stuff up, and I'm still interested. David Self wrote a great script, but the company went under, so ... "

The Playlist said Aronofsky has another cyborg film in the works called Machine Man. Aronofsky will most likely make Machine Man after filming ends on The Wolverine next year.

I would be down with a new Robocop, Detroit could use some screen time and hopefully boost some economy.

Although the art is well done, the "new" concept is complete shit.

I'm originally from Detroit, the Unions pretty much screwed the city over as well as consumers not buying American made cars. It used to be a fantastic town, one of which that helped build the very foundation of this country.

It's sad that a lot of people don't respect that at least.

They don't need to change Robocop's look. That concept art looks too much like Iron-Tron

With all the remakes, reboots, sequels & prequels out
there right now, a new robocop movie would be right on
time. I'm a huge fan of the three robo movies & would
love to see a new chapter on this iconic character.

I remember him saying it wasn't going to be a reboot but more of a sequel. Kind of like Predators.

Well that first pic, the banner, makes him look too mobile.
Far too much like Iron Man, and not enough like RoboCop.

But those other pics, of him and the car, rock IMO.
As a hardcore RoboCop fan, this gets my approval.
I LOVE the first movie. I love about half of the second one, and enjoyed some elements of the animated shows and live-action shows, and made for TV movies. I like the comics too.

I'm totally down for a new RoboCop.
Just as long as it keeps the political commentary and satire of the original film.

The original Robocop movie is one of my all-time favorites. I hated the sequels, especially Robocop 2, which is the worst film I ever saw. A 'reboot' isn't needed here so much as a good sequel that returns to the spirit and attitude of the first film. I'd buy that for a dollar!

These concept sketches are awful. They would fit in far better with the Judge Dredd film.

As for the concept art, it's just really speculation at this point, so I'll take it at that. They needed to make this movie before they rebooted Hulk and the current production of the new Spiderman.

Hopefully, if they do "reboot" Robocop, they'll give him at least the ability run instead of chasing "bad guys" as if he were an 80's analog software program/automated robotic arm working in a car manufacturing plant's assembly line. The famous head turn, upper body twist, that's follow by the stomping sound effect of fear isn't going to work anymore. Loved it as a kid, but this Robocop needs new innovative ways of catching crooks.

The Style of RoboCop was inspired partially by Judge Dredd.
And the look was a mixture of Iron Man and Rom.

In fact, when the Iron Man movie came out, one of my first reactions to seeing his armor, was "holy crap, a new RoboCop movie would rule!".

Considering he's had 3 movies, 2 live-action shows, 2 animated shows, a bunch of games, and a bunch of comics...
and the ONLY great thing to come out of this franchise was the FIRST movie...
I say it's high-time for a new RoboCop. Maybe something great to compensate for the general mediocrity of the franchise.
I liked some of the spin-offs. But he could do with some more greatness.

@ comicb00kguy:

"The original Robocop movie is one of my all-time favorites. I hated the sequels, especially Robocop 2, which is the worst film I ever saw."

You're saying you like RoboCop 3 more than RoboCop 2?!?!

You do remember that 3 had him flying around fighting robot ninjas right?!

"These concept sketches are awful. They would fit in far better with the Judge Dredd film."

It's funny you should say that.
The original concept and visual style of RoboCop was partially inspired by Judge Dredd, Iron Man, and ROM.
