READY PLAYER ONE's Simon Pegg Doesn't Think That Quentin Tarantino Will Direct The New STAR TREK Movie
Despite several reports that Quentin Tarantino had committed to helming the a new Star Trek movie, Scotty actor Simon Pegg doubts the Reservoir Dogs director will be able to fit it into his schedule...
Quentin Tarantino may not be paying a visit to the final frontier after all.
Late last year we got word that the Pulp Fiction filmmaker had wowed Paramount and J.J. Abrams with his idea for a new Star Trek film and was a shoe-in to direct, and since then it was revealed that The Revenant scribe Mark L. Smith was on board to pen the script.
Everything seemed to be on track, but just last night Spock actor Zachary Quinto revealed that there are actually three different scripts in play, and now Simon Pegg has admitted that he doesn't see Tarantino finding the time to spearhead the project.
Here's what the Ready Player One actor had to say during an interview with The Playlist.
“I don’t think Quentin is going to direct it, because he’s got in his California movie [‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’] to do and then I think only doing one more film after that. And I doubt, I don’t think he could get around to directing a Star Trek in two-three years.”
Pegg's comments are sure to disappoint Trek fans, but there is always a chance Tarantino will find a way to make it work and sit in the director's chair after all.
