In an interview with Collider, Bad Robot's Bryan Burk offers an update on the hugely anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII from Disney/Lucasfilm and director J.J. Abrams. He confirms that they are planning to begin production in early 2014 for a previously announced summer 2015 release, and a location hasn't been officially named yet. However, the current priority in the production is (obviously) the script, which Abrams is working closely with Michael Arndt on. "We’re progressing on a schedule to hopefully begin next year, or the beginning of next year, and the location is still kind of floating around in the air all depending on script and a whole bunch of other issues. As I just said, everything is kind of a free-flowing thing, and when we feel like the story level on this script and everything is really coming together and schedules are all working and pieces line up, we prowl ahead, and Star Wars will be no different." He also talks about the level of interest he has in the project, saying that it's on par with others'. "I mean, it’s Star Wars. It’s something that obviously has successfully been handed down from generation to generation in the last 40 years. If I weren’t working on the project, I’d have the same interest as everyone else because it’s something that I, too, am looking forward to seeing where the franchise goes next." What do you want to see in Star Wars: Episode VII?

I just don't want them to rush it and feck it up.Quality acting,quality direction and a quality script are the most important.

@Danbojohnj Abrams movies usually have really good acting in them. So I'm not too concerned.

My only concern at this point is Story and what characters they will use.

I want more than just Jedi vs Sith, and I would like the Skywalker and Solo kids to be in it.

@Nomis I'm still laughing my butt off at that.

Yes, please make sure the script is good before filming! On the prequels, George Lucas shot farther in advance of the release dates and tried to fix things in post-production, thinking a good movie would somehow magically shape itself out of all that footage.

Danbojonj- thats funny because it took Lucas what like 3 years each and look what hunks of crap he produced....maybe they should rush it.

I really have no doubt that this will be amazing. Yeah we know the actors have to get in shape, but that's not that hard when Disney/lucasfilms hires trainers and chefs to follow the actors around 24-7...

Can't wait to start seeing this site flip from marvel everything to Star Wars everything in a heartbeat. I just hope all the trolls just go away and/or galactus deletes all their stupid posts.

This site deserves better than stupid idiots that care for nothing more than enciting stupid fights on a comicbookmovie blog...

More than likely, the major story beats have already been outlined, and many of the major action setpieces have already been pre-vizzed (like they've done with all the Marvel movies), and they are just writing the script around them. This saves loads of time in the post-production process.

Let's hope JJ's involvement with the story, the script, the pacing of the film, and the editing is minimal.

@pintoman

Are you stupid? He is the director, he is going to have a largely creative input into those things.

let's just hope we won't see any of his LOST actors...that would be worse than all the Jar Jar Binks of the galaxy.
