At the Licensing Expo 2011 a couple weeks ago, Coming Soon spotted a promo poster for an upcoming LEGO Star Wars TV special. They now have some details surrounding the special, as well as some details on yet another Star Wars animated series that's in the works.

ComingSoon.net spotted the below art for the television event and, while details were few, was told that the special is likely for late September.

Based on the popular video game series, the LEGO TV special is being created in addition to a second, previously announced Star Wars cartoon series. That new series has been given the following official update:

Today, George Lucas is hard at work on a second animated series that will complement 'The Clone Wars', taking 'Star Wars' in a completely new and fun direction.

Here is the poster that was found at the Expo, which is nearly identical to the cover art of the LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars video game.

LEGO Star Wars will hit TV stands in September, later this year!

can we please move away from the prequel verse and expand the original trilogy a bit more, maybe the after math, theres a lot of good novels that take place after the trilogy it could be easy to adapt.

I agree, tired of all the prequel stuff. We all know what eventually happens.

I used to follow everything Star Wars...

But now it's too much to follow.

I liked the Lego Star Wars game though.

This franchise is just bleeding money, lmao, good job Lucas.

Slow news day.... And as much as I'm tired of the prequel stuff, that's all we're getting since it's more relavent to the kids. What 10-year-old kid remembers the original trilogy?

I actually really like the Clone Wars era. More jedi around for starters ;P. But I agree I'd like to see more OT stuff too. Bit presumptuous of Lucas to start a second cartoon series when TCW has 2 more seasons left and he's still not delivered the live-action series that was promised.

@ Hellsing that depends on your definition of good and a lot. I've read 50 or so Star Wars novels and most of them a mediocre at best and way to many complete BS.

I was such a huge Star Wars fan when I grew up. It was why I went to film school. Then the prequels came out while I was in college. For years I was an apologist, and although I do really like Revenge of the Sith I've gotten tired of Star Wars and the prequel universe.

The games aren't fun anymore. I never read the books. The Clone Wars has some cool stuff but doesn't hold my interest (why wasn't Cad Bane a prequel film character?). There used to be magic there but Lucas has not only pulled back the wizards curtain but he's showing us the wizards balls too!

Why not make a post Jedi CGI show? If you're gonna use technology then keep Harrison Ford and Hamill young and show us the rebuilding of the republic. I guess Lucas would have to be too creative?

Looks cool. I have no idea why people ramble on and on about the prequel-verse. Just move on.

How many Clone Wars related series are needed before George Lucas realizes that its been overkill for a LONG time now?

I could skip this show and not experience anxiety to any degree or extent.

@juggy4711- I concur. Many of the Star Wars novels (are you reading this Troy Denning, R.A. Salvatore, Kevin J. Anderson, and Christie Golden? lol) were mid-level in quality...and I am in a charitable mood while typing this post.

So basically, when older fans of the original trilogy didn't fully embrace the prequels, Lucas made a bitter vow to never go beyond the Clone War era.

[frick] you too.

Lucas, stop with the lame TV shows already. Give us some more movies. Introduce Jacen Solo and Ben Skywalker from the new book series, Fate of the Jedi. If we're going to keep getting more TV shows, at least make it The Force Unleashed.

What's wrong with Seth Green, Robot Chicken is sweet and their Star Wars specials piss all over the Family Guy equivalents?

I wish Lucas would do a series about the period between episode 3 and 4 that shows how Darth Vader became the primo badass for the Empire. There's about 20-something years of material that could be explored in detail.

George Lucas (def): Once highly creative film maker who quickly became mindless and so out of touch with his fan base he has no idea what to do.

I will surmise that Lucas is making all this children-related material so he can suffice his own inferiority complex (maybe he is worried to the point of phobia that if he stops making this stuff people will forget Star Wars even exists).

smithonator That's ironic. Because the continued creation of clone war after clone war show is going to make ME forget about star wars.

The Clone Wars movie is the first star wars movie I didn't go see and have never seen. History was made that day. Friends that know me couldn't believe it.
