Now Benedict Cumberbatch Says "We'll Have To Wait And See" About STAR WARS EPISODE VII

His reps have denied it and Benedict Cumberbatch himself recently told reporters than no offer has been made. Well, while he once reiterates that point, the Sherlock star then goes on to tease his involvement in the Star Wars franchise...doesn't he? Check it out!

Benedict Cumberbatch spent the best part of a year lying about his role in Star Trek Into Darkness; not for any sinister reasons however, as it was instead done in an effort to maintain a certain level of surprise when it came to the true identity of 'John Harrison'. So, is it really hard to believe that he wouldn't be entirely truthful about his rumoured role in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars Episode VII? "Of course I’d love to do Star Wars and work with JJ Abrams again because we had such a good time on Star Trek. But nobody has been cast and there are no offers out to anyone apart from the regulars who are returning. So that’s that rumour quashed." He then apparently grinned, and added: "We’ll have to wait and see." How does he know that offers have only been made to the original cast? Why did he grin? I don't know, but despite his many denials, I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to see Cumberbatch in Star Wars Episode VII. What do you guys think?

I hope he's in it someway he's a really good actor

And the timing of shooting is perfect as soon as he finishes Sherlock he can jump into the jan, feb 2014 shoot if that's when they decide to start

And on a side note opening Star Wars outside of may would be blasphemy. I think they should move avengers release date.

This guy is so great, he should be every character in star wars. He is perfect for every role he reads for...'i hope he makes 4 movies a year for the rest of his life..

I so hope he's not in it. Just because he's already the go to baddie for a couple of other franchises (including the other famous sci-fi franchise that starts with 'Star').

Frankly whomever is in Star Wars, really has little meaning to me. I'd rather not see more Sith though. In fact I'd want as few force-wielders present as possible. Honestly, the Jedi are my least favorite part of Star Wars.

Odd how people hate and blame Hayden Christensen and Lucas for turning Vader into a feminine, crying little puppy on some sort of angry teen tantrum yet...they love Jar Jar Abrams and Cumberbiotch for turning Khan into a kinder, gentler, motherly, crying, feminine bore.

In a crying contest Cumberbatches Khan easily defeats Christensen's Vader.

The 3 great Sci Fi villains of the 80's, Vader, Khan, Zod, all turned into whiny, feminine, crying bitches in the 2000s.
They all killed some people yes, but they did it as crying, whining Bitches!

Actually I do care about one casting in particular. Since the veterans are returning, then they should, nay must, bring back Dennis Lawson as Wedge Antilles.

@JediPhilosopher, it's not that I don't like Jedi, they're just not that interesting to me. I just prefer the "real" people/aliens, the pilots, commandos, smugglers, bounty hunters, etc. There is just too much focus on one part of Star Wars mythology, ie the Jedi, they're essentially super heroes, frankly I'd like to learn more about the people fighting the same fight without having the safety net of Force powers. The Jedi should be present, but not necessarily the focus.

No crossover actors for similar sci-fi franchises.

thanks.

Also... let's see some non human pilots... put a mask on Cumberbatch, dub his voice with a subtitled alien language... his droves of fan will get him in it and no one will realize he's a crossover.

Truthfully I don't care who plays what role, as long as they are cast for their ability to play a part and not given a part just because of who they are *cough...Mace Windu sucked...cough*. I'm okay with relative unknowns as the main cast with support from a handful of professionals.

Read "Tales of the Bounty Hunters" to read about his escape somewhat...or his Wookieepedia entry for details...

There is a lot more to Star Wars than Jedi, they are only a small part to a much larger mythology. Frankly "The X-Wing series" especially the Wraith Squadron focused ones, are some of my favorite EU books. Not about Jedi but about the people who are willing to throw down their lives to let the Jedi do what they do. As an Afghani veteran and ex-Infantryman I find the grunts...the unknowns...far more intinteresting.

Yah, Benedict Cumberbatch will be in EP7.

I don't know if J.J. Abrams would have him play the primary villain in two of his sci-fi franchises though.

Talk about redundant. I would rather him play a good guy in Star Wars.
